2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWhere'd all the helpfully concerned and worried poll-posting newbies go?
Gee, last week you couldn't throw a rock in here without bumping into another thread posted by some newcomer who just signed up to tell us how deeply concerned they were about the depressing trend in the polls and the unstoppable Romney momentum and really, you know, its all over so why bother sniff snuffle sniff sniff....
Odd, they all seem to have vanished. I would think, statistically, it would be just as likely that we would have people signing up with stacks, nay binders, of useful new polling data, ready to post upon walking through the door, now as there were last week.
Unless something else is going on. Hmmmm. Odd.

(1,107 posts)Perhaps they just remembered how dead wrong all the pundits were in 2008. It wasn't the horse race the polls showed, it was a decisive win for the President. 2012 will also be no contest. At least 310 EV for President Obama.
Or maybe they are already crying in their beers

(157 posts)I'd say they hightailed it outta here. I hope yawl don't mind my saying, but some posters here do seem to be kinda hard on the newbies. I've been here a while, although I don't post much, but I'm feeling the "is she a troll or not" vibe anyway. Perhaps the worried poll-posting newbies don't have thick skin like I do.

(1,134 posts)after getting tired of the touch feely hug it out and cry on my shoulder that is Dkos. Once I realized you had to assert yourself here I got more comfortable. But yeah if you're used to being coddled at other sites, DU is a rude awakening!

I hope you're one of us, so welcome.

(157 posts)No whining, gloom, doom, finger-wagging, or hand wringing here. My confidence in the POTUS has never wavered. Trust me, the sooner we get Romney off the television and otherwise out of our lives, the happier I'll be.
MN, I matriculated from a couple of "take no prisoner" messageboards (and was banned, I'm sorry to say) so I'm hoping I'll fit right in! No touchy feely for you. Got it! LOL!

(68,715 posts)I have been registered for quite a while but usually post at Huff...sick of righties pretending to be Dem and not voting for Pres. Obama this time...we can spot them a mile away. I guess they try here too. I have good news...I am working GOTV and we are all very optimistic in Ohio...AThere were 15 volunteers at our meeting last night in our little town in Northern Ohio; we have been knocking on door and calling since the summer...Obama has been consistenly up as has Sherrod Brown despite the fact that the rightie 1% has thrown money at this election. They have spent more money on this election then any election...last time I checked Sherrod was up by 5 - 9 points...doesnt hurt the Joshie Mandel is a total loser...so take heart folks I believe the president will win Ohio and I see no path for Romney if this happens.

Of course now we are flooded with "Concerniks" and frankly they are almost as exhausting.

(8,217 posts)I still am going to tell you guys that if you know someone...
Of the 18-35 year old demographic, who is a gamer.
Please haul their behinds to the polls, because some would stick home after waiting in line at midnight for the Halo 4 release.
I am doing that for 2 people.
So yeah, I mentioned being worried about that, but I will be doing something about it.
Again, if you know a gamer of the 18-35 year old group, who is itching to play Halo 4 which is released on November 6, make sure to drag them to the polls...
