2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumI'll tell you what's happening right now in Vermont.
The Sanders campaign and the DNC are agreeing on a plan for Bernie to wind down his campaign and endorse Hillary.
One that gives him a good position to speak at the DNC and some upgraded political status with the party.
He won't drop out tomorrow, likely not even this month, but it will be well before the convention.
Bet on it.

(7,633 posts)But it is the typical pattern for a candidate when they are reassessing. They get off the campaign trail, regroup and think about it.
More often than not, they then announce the next day they are suspending the campaign. I am not saying that is what Bernie will do but it is not out of the realm of possibilities.

Bet on it.

(10,565 posts)the attacks down- For one thing-It didn't work-it had the opposite effect. Bernie went from being a good guy to a bitter grumpy guy. Another point is that Tad Devine wants to get future gigs from Democrats-He is still relatively young-If he allows bernie to destroy the party he can forget about future campaigns.

(30,613 posts)The Hillarians are clearly terrified of Bernie. If they were really so sure of victory, they'd welcome the chance to vanquish the little people once and for all.

I think anyone would be crazy to closely align with the Clintons during the general election. Let those that have already embraced her carry the water (though good luck with that).

(9,959 posts)...all candidates say they are not dropping out, when asked - usually after a poor showing... They say they are in it until the end. But, often, they will change their mind and "suspend" their campaign. I'm not sure how Hillary in 2008 disproves this... she did not have a convention fight and she was doing better than Bernie. He could change his mind, after looking at the situation and conferring with Jane, friends and supporters. I don't think it would be a betrayal of trust if he conceded before the convention.

(1,151 posts)Still feels weird, supported Bernie for months and all my friends like him. Maybe the next progressive insurgency won't tell people of color to drop dead though.

(28,270 posts)Except I hope he drops out by the end of this month at least.
He's lookin to get beat in all the next primaries anyway. Why take the humiliation?
Just to please some die hard fanatics? Makes no sense to me.

(36,437 posts)I do believe Bernie Sanders is ethical, even if he's been far too flattered by the cheers and far to gullible to the Weaver-Devine grift.
When he gets wiped out again across the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic, he'll wind down in a big way.
Can he even win Rhode Island?
