http://www.detroitnews.com/story/opinion/columnists/nolan-finley/2016/04/19/clinton-gone-flint-forgotten/83266508/"Flint Mayor Karen Weaver is learning a tough lesson about the political spotlight it switches off quickly once you no longer serve its purpose.
The mayor came into office in January solely focused on solving her citys water contamination crisis. She worked closely at first with Gov. Rick Snyder and stayed away from the partisan gamesmanship.
But then the presidential primary campaign came to Michigan and Weaver was co-opted by Hillary Clintons camp. She was a hot commodity for a while, feted by Clinton and making joint appearances with her. Weaver played nicely into Clintons attempt to cast herself as Flints savior.
Clinton even cut a national commercial that claimed once she found out what was going on in Flint and gave Washington the what-for, federal funds began flowing to the city.
And then the campaign moved on. With New York and other states on her mind, Clinton forgot about Flint and Weaver."
Pandermonium ensued.

(3,335 posts)three members of the Water District were indicted on criminal charges for falsifying documents that said the levels of lead in the water was much lower than they reported that they were. The 3 are squealing like pigs. The people of Flint Michigan will all be rich a year from now, and the federal government will be picking up the tab for the class action lawsuits which will be filed. Somehow the lawyers will try to make it the Federal Government's even though the documents sent to the EPA were also falsified, and the federal government will be taking care of the people of Flint for the rest of their lives.

I'm sorry for the residents of Flint, but I think the Mayor probably learned a lesson she needed to learn.

(10,530 posts)in fairness, surely Weaver realized Hillary might not have the power to deliver funding unless and until she was elected to something . . .
That said, maybe the Clinton Foundation could help.

The Flint WaterWorks initiative, a program that will help provide young people with jobs to assist those impacted by the water crisis, was announced on Sunday by Flint mayor Karen Weaver and former first daughter Chelsea Clinton.
A story from the Detroit Free Press revealed that the project was created through a $500,000 donation from J.B. and M.K. Pritzker, who are among the top donors to outside groups that support the former Secretary of State.
