2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWeaver: Bernie will be a Democrat for life.
An hour or so ago on MSNBC's "With All Due Respect," Mark Halperin asked Sanders' campaign manager Jeff Weaver if Bernie would "stay a Democrat for life." Weaver said yes, he will.
Can't imagine anyone believed him.
Update: Conflict between Weaver and Devine?
From Josh Marshall at TPM:
He's definitely not throwing in the towel. He clearly wants Sanders to stay in through California. And there's no reason why he shouldn't. But he's very conspicuously not on the same page as Weaver.

(8,175 posts)You like Brock better? Cause I be Brock would side with Penn on this.
And this
Who does that sound like? Going negative? Brock all over the place.
Hillary did not lose because of Penn. She lost because she is Hillary and Obama was a far better candidate.

(8,175 posts)I would not be surprised if he does, or if he goes back to Independent. Either way, he's always been a democrat at heart.

(11,495 posts)He only became a Democrat to get the backing to run for president. He has never claimed to be a Democrat in the past, and has even said he wasn't. Shows how little you know about Bernie.

(6,551 posts)Halperin was referring to the Democratic Party.
Bernie stay a member of a group that "at heart" he has criticized and disrespected for many years?
Not going to happen. Bernie believes he is better than the Democratic Party.

(11,785 posts)If you think Bernie would accept the nomination and then say, "Fuck you, Democrats!" you really don't know Bernie at all. He's a class act.
kstewart33
(6,551 posts)Given that Bernie isn't going to get the nomination, will he remain a member of the Democratic Party? He is listed as running for re-election to the Senate as an Independent.
I can't imagine that Bernie will remain a member of the Democratic Party. He's not much of a joiner.
winter is coming
(11,785 posts)Whether he remains a member of the Democratic party, or re-declares himself an Independent, he'd still be caucusing with Dems in the Senate and advocating for the same principles. This question is just another manifestation of the "not really one of us" bullshit. The harder people try to push Bernie out as being "not one of us", the more attention they draw to the fact that a lot of people prefer Bernie to the "real Democrat".
