Bringing us Together: Hillary Clinton Aide Tells Journalist: F**k Bernie Sanders

Reflecting on Clinton's double-digit victory, the anonymous senior aide told Politico: "We kicked ass tonight," adding, “I hope this convinces Bernie to tone it down. If not, fuck him.”

Late last month, the Clinton campaign delayed signing on to debate Sanders in Brooklyn, New York, saying they would consider adding the event if the Vermont senator changed his "tone."

The dig was a stark departure from the Democratic race's generally diplomatic rules of engagement. After months of amicably agreeing to disagree, the claws came out while campaigning in New York, Clinton's adopted home state and Sanders' birthplace.

Real Democratic voters aren't dumb. They know what his half-truths and ill-advised innuendos will do to Dem chances in November, if he's foolhardy enough to continue with them.

Don’t get in the gutter with the Clinton campaign. Don’t act like a 12 year old and call him/her a “dick,” as some do.

Tell Hillary what you think by giving Bernie a donation: berniesanders.com/…

$5, $10, whatever you can. $5 speaks a lot louder than this person’s words.

We hear the Clinton campaign loud and clear. And we don’t forget. That cowardly senior aide should identify himself or herself. I assume this is Hillary’s view. So be it.

The arrogance and dishonesty of that campaign offends many. It offends the hell out of me. Change our tone? Release the damn transcripts! Come clean, Hillary!

Telling the truth as it concerns her association and closed door speeches to WS elite?

the 'ripping' as you reply is telling the truth, I see you equate 'truth' with 'ripping', good to know how you frame things...

"his campaign will fade into irrelevance"
Really? I see you discount the underlying movement supporting Bernie as 'irrelevant' since the main reason he's gained so much so quickly is due to this movement which you clearly discount and disregard

This is the main point concerning HRC and her supporters, this air of establishment ownership of candidacy, that any challenge is to be regarded as you have shown here with this reply...

And HRC supporters question why people wouldn't fall into line to vote for her if she were to win the nomination...

Honestly, the jury system is completely messed up.

I've had one alert which led to a deserved hide in all of my 12 years. Again, not disputing it. But I've seen things hidden that I can't for the life of me understand why. They fit within standard everyday posting here at DU. But again, F is F, and if we're going to let it stand one way in the primary season it should go any way.

For the record, it is perception. I've seen what I consider far worse than the f word lobbed, against both candidates. Things tend to get hidden in favor of HRC but not for Bernie these days. It is what it is. But it's noticed. For what it's worse, I don't find the f word the least bit offense, but I live up in the Chicago region, and it's pretty much part of our every day. I'd still send my kid to his room for it. And expect a teacher to run him to the office of he dared, but that's respect earned. Different context and use.

Personally, I'm going to abstain from going that route of childish insults myself. I agree with the notion that it is a very unprofessional thing to say, especially in the primary from a supporter of one candidate about the others.

However, let's also be clear, this is not one-sided lobbing of crappy insults.

Thu Apr 21, 2016, 09:58 AM
Apr 2016

As politicians affiliated with Third Way hasten to distance themselves from the op-ed, the question remains: Why are Democrats affiliated with a group which works so strenuously to gut Democratic programs? Voters deserve more than platitudes from these politicians. They deserveclear answers about the issues...

This is not an “inside baseball” story about politics. It’s a battle for party control whose outcome could affect every household in the country. If this quarrel is to be remembered — and it’s incumbent upon genuine progressives to make sure that it is — it should be remembered as an attempt by a the corporate class to retain control of the Democratic Party and limit the leftmost limits of political and economic debate.

One of this faction’s key goals is to roll back three of the Democratic Party’s signature achievements: Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid. It is a measure of their power and influence that they’ve been able to get so many Democratic politicians to support Social Security cuts when public opinion is so strongly against them. (This poll even shows that large majorities would pay more in payroll taxes in return for stronger Social Security benefits.)

...a corporate-backed faction which has tried to keep the leftmost limits of debate very much in hand and under tight control. It has done so with striking success for decades, thanks in large part to its ability to influence politicians like Presidents Bill Clinton and Barack Obama.
