Related: About this forumElizabeth Warren For VP Possible As Clinton Hints At Clinton/Warren Dream Ticket
http://www.politicususa.com/2016/04/21/elizabeth-warren-vp-clinton-hints-woman-dream-ticket.htmlIf Republicans nominate Donald Trump, the conventional wisdom that two women couldnt be on the Democratic ticket together will be thrown out the window. Trump is so unpopular and likely to pick another man to be his VP. Clinton could have the ability choose any Democrat that she wants. Traditional considerations like gender and geography may not matter.
Former Sec. of State Clinton has struggled with progressive voters in the primary, so it makes perfect sense that she might seek to form an ideological unity ticket that would bring all spectrums of the Democratic Party into the campaign. Since Bernie Sanders may not be a realistic option for VP due to age and the divide between the two on campaign financing, Sen. Warren would be the perfect choice if Clinton decides that she wants to add a progressive to the ticket....
There is also no indication that Elizabeth Warren would not take the number two spot on the ticket it was offered to her. Elizabeth Warren on the Democratic ticket makes perfect sense, which is why it probably wont happen, but if Clinton wants a progressive fighter on the ticket with her, Sen. Warren would be an outstanding choice.

War in Iraq....well, she helped get that done.
Talked Obama into an agressive stance in Libya....how nice.
Working to get the things done that Republicans already want is nothing to brag about.
Anyone can work with the Republicans by lying down.

But when not giving him a handicap for the obstruction, he hasn't done much. So it seems his method to get around the GOP is lacking.

(14,255 posts)All this would do is get Warren out of the Senate and into a basically nothing job, which is, of course, a Third Way wet dream.
To name Warren as VP is kind of the pinnacle of cynical pandering. Disgusting.

(14,255 posts)Cheney named himself VP and basically told Bush what to do. To compare Warren with Cheney is ridiculous.
If Warren was VP, you really thing she would influence Hillary? What a fucking joke. Warren would do funerals and state dinners and be out of Hillary's Third Way hair; Warren would be more effective as a Senator. Hillary and the Third Way people know that. They even went to the trouble of saying Warren is getting out of hand, in a WSJ opinion piece.

(2,450 posts)It would do nothing to get my vote. That they think it could, if that's what they're trying to do, only confirms my reasons for rejecting her. It actually kinda pisses me off. She has to actually change, not simply appear to, and it's too late to convince me she means her recent move to the left. Seven months isn't nearly enough time to do it. So... the pooch has already been screwed.
And using the Senator like that disgusts me too.

(1,236 posts)Possible no?
djean111
(14,255 posts)I could see Warren as Bernie's VP (although still bad to lose her as a Senator) - because I think they would really work together as a team. And I could see Warren as president. But as Hillary's little errand runner? Nope.
Besides, who knows what fixes are in, anyway.
And if this is a trial balloon, someone pop it real quick. Hillary is not moving left, and Hillary would only be using Warren to try and snag Bernie's supporters, with the huge plus of getting Warren out of Congress. Pandering, with a side of the usual self-interest.

(362 posts)The VP candidate will have to be acceptable to the Military Industrial Complex and Wall Street. Wesley Clark was groomed for this role as he was from the military industrial complex, but it is no longer 2008 and so it is hard to say if he is still part of the plan.

(14,255 posts)Third Way attacks on Social Security and a willingness to put more restrictions on abortion - just because Warren is a woman? And we all know that Hillary would just be using Warren to snag votes, and then park her in a little office somewhere, happy to have her out of the Senate.
Try thinking of this without gender involved. ISSUES. Words. Deeds. Gender is meaningless.

And who she has at #2 on the ticket probably won't influence it all that much (unless it's someone like DWS, but I don't see that happening) but certainly a pick like Liz Warren would make me happy.

(23,664 posts)And if you don't think Bill Clinton is going to have his big red nose right in the middle of everything she does, I want some of what you're smoking.
Besides, I don't think either Clinton wants Warren anywhere near the Oval Office. She would totally overshadow Hillary, in terms of brains, personal magnetism, speaking skills that the contrast would be ugly for the plodding and uninspiring president. I think Bill would put the kibosh on Warren as VP, but I don't think Hillary would even consider her.
And Warren is way too smart to attract herself to what would almost surely be a train wreck like a Hillary Clinton presidency.
The only positive would be if Hillary gets elected and is subsequently impeached and removed from office, we'd get President Warren. Which of course is just another reason why the Clintons puppet masters would never approve of Warren.

(23,720 posts)I think Hillary would only offer the spot to Senator Warren as way to keep her from being productive- in that position or in the Senate. The Vice President really only has two primary duties: to cast a vote in the event of a Senate deadlock and to preside over and certify the official vote count of the U.S. Electoral College.
I think as VP she would not be given opportunity to get things done as the Senator views many issues, among them Wall Street and Citizens United pretty much the same way as Senator Sanders does. And even if she were given opportunity or authority as VP to get something done- I think Hillary Clinton would resent Senator Warren for it. Hillary is a narcissist and will not tolerate someone going against her and I don't believe that Senator Warren is one to unquestioningly follow.
No, I stand by what I said. If Senator Warren is as smart as we think she is, she'll stay in the Senate where she can actually get something done.
on edit: the word is throw as in- throw under the bus, not through. And MY GAWD, no, I did not throw Elizabeth Warren under the bus.
