2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumGetting Warren to be VP under Hillary would be the best way for Wall Street to muzzle her voice.
It would take her out of the Senate and pull her off of all those committees. And she'd have no ability to shape policy anymore.
Even worse, since the VP position is often seen as the "cheerleader" position for whatever policies the president is supporting, it would force Warren into the distasteful position of defending all of Hillary's half-assed proposals that actually protect Wall Street interests.
I don't think Elizabeth Warren would be so foolish as to think the Vice President position is worth a damn. At least I hope she isn't. But if she is, it would be an excellent way for the powers that be to stifle one of the strongest voices for reform in a generation.
So Liz, just say NO to the VP position if offered.... unless it's BERNIE offering it to you, then by all means, say YES!!!

(244 posts)As we all know from that famous video, Warren has always criticized Hillary for becoming corrupt and taking big money from the banks. Of course Hillary would like Warren to be her cheerleader VP because as you said it would remove her biggest critic when she gets into office and commences more cash funnelling.
She'd be much more valuable in the Senate or, preferably, as President.

(23,720 posts)I'm thinking she owes Wassermann-Schultz- her pardner in crime, big time. And she'd get a two-fer. Female and first AA VP.

(14,255 posts)But I bet the idea is juicy porn for Wall Street and the Third Way - relegating Warren to dinners and funerals, and getting this "out of hand" woman out of the Senate.
It would be a desperate, cynical, pandering move. No sale.
