If you're going to count Bush as VP, well, Sec'y of State is a more powerful position than VP.

In a sense, there has been a Clinton or Bush in the White House from Jan 1980 to Feb 2013. Assuming Hillary gets elected, our Bush/Clinton-free zone will have lasted less than 3 years within a 40 year period if she serves one term, 44 if she serves two.
