Debate on DU used to be about attacking the ideas, not the posters.

So, okay, I made a stupid post yesterday. Attack that post! Gleefully! Have a great time doing it! I welcome the parodies!

But not everyone who makes a stupid post, or one you disagree with, is taking "shifts" to make those posts, whether paid or otherwise. Particularly people who have been here since before the new Jury System.

At one point, being unable to say more than "you must be a shill" was considered against Community Standards itself, as the Standards forbid rudeness to other posters, and suggesting that even their stupid posts and bad opinions were not their own was considered rudeness. Saying they were taking shifts? No, that is accusing of shilling, jottom line.

Standards have changed, apparently, and even Skinner has commented that the jury system has now been co-opted to punish unpopular speech, not uncivil and unproductive speech.

So attack my stupid post all you want.

But I desperately look forward to this primary being over, clearing out my ignore list, and trying to work with people to get Democrats elected.

I've been on project think tanks. Focus and develop good ideas, they will grow. Bad ideas should be stated and if bad, ignored and their significance will diminish. Within bad ideas there might be a shred of a good idea, pluck it and transplant it. When people focus on bad ideas then they have nothing to contribute to the good of the organization. Deconstructive criticism is bad for a company/organization. A bad omen.

I wasn't offended.

I'm just saddened, seriously, at the state of affairs where a person is presumed, if they disagree, to be a part of some shadowy cabal working in shifts trying to disrupt. Not every opinion I have smells like rosewater. I am fully aware of that. And I actually like it when people constructively engage me telling me why what I said was incorrect.

But unless it's acceptable to say Bernie supporters here are working on other forums to coordinate their efforts, then that should go both ways.

Unless it's not, in which case, don't mind me.
