Karl Rove opened up old wounds for me and Memories of TinFoilBeret

[font size=3.5]

On 10/25/12, Karl Rove stated:
"Undecided voters generally swing the challenger's way."

Polling Report substantiates this:
"Over 80% of the time, most or all of the undecideds voted for the challenger."

Which was further substantiated by this:
CNN Exit Poll for Florida: When did you decide?
Within Last Week - Voters Broke:
Bush 29%
Kerry 68 %

So please explain, Mr Rove, how this happened:

Last CNN Poll before 2004 Election Florida: Kerry with 49%, Bush with 46%= +3.

Actual:
Bush 52% +6
Kerry 46% -6

As long as I live, I will never ever believe that Bush "won" Florida in 2004. And, I will always remember, TinFoilBeret, a frequent poster on DU and a statistician, who one night, was on to something. She had downloaded all the precinct totals and was so close to finding a pattern with Gore 2000 numbers and a set factor. and her last post was at 1 am and told me she was going to stay up all night. She was never heard from again on DU. I still think that we could prove it one day, download all these numbers and send to every college math department in the country as a case study.

A frequent poster? You mean the 204 posts HE made in the huge 18 days HE spent at DU?

Last post was at 1am? What about his post at 11:37 AM 2 days after he started the thread in question?

How about this one on 12/10/04 at 6:22 PM?

You've been riding this idea for years - that a long time (wrong) female member (wrong) made some huge discovery and disappeared (wrong) after posting at 1:00 am.

Give it up and move on. The statistics from these races have been poured over by the best minds the Democrat party can find and there are no patterns.

By the way, the user name was tinfoil_beret. The least you could do is get THAT right.

4. This, by far is the rudest post I have ever gotten or have ever seen on DU for

that matter.

This is not the last post I saw, it must have been late the night before. I should have dug into archives to get the precise time.

I still remember her as a female but maybe from an email?

204 posts back then was a lot - Many joined right after that election. And TinFoilBeret was on a lot during that horrible time right after the election.

Despite your overwhelming need to criticize and mock me....I have every right to post anything I want. And feel no need to get your permission. Feel totally free to use your ignore on me.

The fact remains, he/she was on to something big, and no one else over the years has done the same.

You say get over it....I have posted about this a couple times in the last 8 years. Once, right after they disappeared. And again years later. I do find it very curious that you would remember that and go through all the trouble of digging up the finer details to contradict me. And, you weren't even a member at the time!

This is the last post I remember seeing. Can't sign on to any other http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=203&topic_id=114559&mesg_id=114559

Amazing, the memories of people who weren't even here~! And only members, IIRC, could sign on during election night--and even at that it was tough to get in because the servers were so overloaded!

Even though I've seen ruder posts here (oh yeah), you don't deserve such rudeness--I saw nothing in your post that merited it. I don't recall the poster who provided those polling details, but my habit on election day is to drive people to the polls, and often I don't get "on" DU till fairly late on election days, even in the off-year elections.

I found your post interesting, as I couldn't fathom why or how W prevailed in that election either. He just wasn't the better candidate, even with the drubbing of lies and bullshit JK had to deal with. Don't let the cotton, wool or silk set get you down, though--it's not worth the agita.

6. Interesting about election night here. I was working in DC at the time

3 blocks from the WH. Can still remember walking by it after work - and it had been a cloudy day but all of a sudden the sun broke through and shone on the WH. We had been watching the exits all day, optimistic, and the sunshine was surely a sign "Kerry was in and this criminal who started a fake war was out."

I found DU a week later. It was an amazing time here in the aftermath of the election. There was so much unity -- in a single purpose -- getting Bush out.

People were really funny too. I remember (for some unknown reason) someone saying "I am so glad I found DU, since I have been laying on the floor in a corner, staring at a piece of dust for a week, and finding DU has brought me out of my coma"

I found DU in the early days after the Gore robbery. I was a member lurker for several years (mainly due to work), then I finally got up the moxie to post. Of course, by then my computer at home had crashed, I got a new one tricked out, I think, with Windows ME, forgot my frigging user name and password, had changed emails (does erols.com even exist anymore, I wonder?) , so I had to start all over again! Not that it mattered, I don't think I had a dozen posts under the old name, whatever the hell it was. I remember the very, very early DU--I thought it was a miracle that there was a place to go and read the comments of people who felt the very same way I did about the royal screwing that AG got! I've been hooked on it ever since (and once I started talking, I am disinclined to shut up)!

hating Bush forever. First I had "Laura PackYourBags" a reference to thinking this is what George would say to Laura once the election was called for Kerry.

Never heard or erols.com....but do remember that when you sent an email to a fellow DUer, it came directly to your home email.

9. I think my first name might have been something frivolous or situational--but I can't be sure.

I draw a total blank! Those were stressful days on a number of levels!!

Every time I see your name, I roar with delight. I picture poor old zombie-eyed Laura, Porgie's old weed connection from way back in the day, not only pouring him a drink...but also handing him a bag of pretzels!
