Col Lawrence Wilkerson says the Republican part is filled with racists..

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson, Chief of Staff to Secretary of State General Colin Powell, during the administration of George W Bush, was asked to comment on Republican John Sununu's claim that Colin Powell endorsed Barack Obama because of the color of his skin.

Wilkerson responded by saying “My party, unfortunately, is the bastion of those people, not all of them but most of them, who are still basing their decisions on race. . . My party is full of racists, and the real reason a considerable portion of my party wants President Obama out of the White House has nothing to do with the content of his character, nothing to do with his competence as Commander-in Chief and President, and everything to do with the color of his skin, and that's despicable!”

He really comes out very strong saying what we all know damn well to be true!

He is a righteous man. All those voting for asshole and assholier should be tied down and made to watch that whole interview and the one that followed in the Ed Show.

I am far from a one-issue voter, but if my party espoused institutional racism, that's an insurmountable deal-breaker. What is sofa king great about the fucking repug party that keeps him as a registered voter? Arguably, their entire platform supports empowerment of a tiny segment of society comprised of rich, powerful (and almost overwhelmingly white) people, which is de facto racism in my book. The 'southern strategy' depends almost entirely upon duping working-class whites in southern states into voting against their own interests as long as it works to the detriment of blacks even more. I'd be more impressed if this military man renounced membership in that party of bigots instead of merely lamenting it and then referring to it as 'my party.'

whether they are reasonable good people, or moderate, etc. If the still have that "R" next to their name then, in my mind, they have a major character flaw and they are not decent people. They are only running for cover.
If they had any real spine/character they would, at the very least, become independents and let it known why. Only then will "their" party come to its senses.

and taken away, charged with harboring a Jewish cousin. At age 16 he was in France, assisting the Free French with translations and the occasional sabotage of German troop trains. To this day he has never stopped referring to Germany as "my country". I'll let him know that he has a major character flaw.

Like Bill Maher said some time ago: "There are two things Republicans can't stand, (1) Being called a "racist" and (2) . . . . . . .Black people.
