I am far from a one-issue voter, but if my party espoused institutional racism, that's an insurmountable deal-breaker. Arguably, their entire platform supports empowerment of a tiny segment of society comprised of rich, powerful (and almost overwhelmingly white) people, which is de facto racism in my book. The 'southern strategy' depends almost entirely upon duping working-class whites in southern states into voting against their own interests as long as it works to the detriment of blacks even more. I'd be more impressed if this military man renounced membership in that party of bigots instead of merely lamenting it and then referring to it as 'my party.'
