they are reporting that the President's numbers with women are nearly even with Rmoney and some pundit is lamenting that if this is true, then it bodes very badly for the Democrats.

For crying out loud, this is becoming unnerving, and I don't believe it.

I'm going to go with Princeton U on this one.

and that she doesn't understand it because Obama is a great Pres who supports women and Mittens is a miserable failure and lying scum who barely considers them human.

She's very worried.

8. I think that is the strategy of the Right and Mitt's campaign.....scare and demoralize

the Obama supporters. They are taking a calculated risk that we will be so down and out about it that we won't vote. FAT CHANCE of that happening.

The other part of that strategy is that it is the perfect set up to steal this election and we can't let them get away with that. If they keep harping on us that it's close.....and face it, a lot of people can't do the calculations with the polling information......like you get at 538 or the Princeton Consortium.....and so they take at face value whatever information or interpretation they are told on TV. Especially if it comes from someone they know and trust. So if their favorite broadcaster tells them that Mitt is winning or is closing the gap, why should they doubt it? They don't. And then when the steal is made on Nov. 6th, they accept the verdict that Mitt won.....after all, weren't they told for weeks and weeks that things were moving in his direction??? It's a mind game they are playing with voters.

So don't fall for the hype. Don't ever repeat it to anyone. Find the good, reliable places like 538 and Princeton Consortium and broad cast that far and wide. Use Facebook, Twitter, email. Use whatever you can to push the truth and accurate information.

10. I told her...

...they're doing this so they can steal the election - with so much fraud, etc. - there's no doubt about it. Also told her about 538 - the average of various polls rather than relying on one - and also told her about Gallop and how far off they are.

She's already voted as has most of my family so no risk it will prevent that but she does tell me the media pretty much either says it's a "tie" or Rmoney is winning and finds it worrysome. I don't watch TV - thankfully, so I don't hear the propaganda (and that's why I don't watch it).

Oct 2012

If Obama or his team come out and say it's all lies, we have this in the bag voters may not show up.

It's kind of a two way street on the polling and pundit BS. If it's close and all Dems think it may be their vote that wins the race they will turn out. If they think it's a done deal, they may skip voting.

Welcome to DU.

Just listen to him when he says he is going to win. He has practiced saying that. He is trying, trying ever so hard, to be positive, but deep down inside, he knows he is losing. If he "wins," it will be due to cheating. 'Cause he is really, really worried.

I think that the media wants to keep this close to keep viewers and to sell advertising. The problem is this constant barrage of how close the race is is damaging and could cause some of our voters not to vote. I'm going with another poster on this thread. It's all about GOTV.

Seems like that would make them want to vote, to make sure the President gets every vote he can get.

I hear this all the time, if the election is close OR if your guy is way ahead voters might stay home. I don't understand that logic.
If you don't vote that is certain to be one less vote for your guy.

for playing up one candidate too much and projecting a winner too early. What that does is depresses the vote on the west coast and with an election this "close," I'd much rather those on the west coast think they HAVE to vote for our guy than be complacent and stay home.

by that much is an outright lie, and not a very believable one at that.

I have yet to hear any enthusiasm about Romney, even in the press/media. The only enthusiasm I've heard is from people paid to be enthusiastic for him.

He sucks. Everybody knows that.

Those two fall to Obama and we can all go to bed early.

I live in VA and see a TON of Obama signs out there. I'm seeing Obama signs on lawns that I know had McCain signs up 4 years ago. This is in the red heart of VA as well, not just the northern blue areas.
