There's no way that I can link this new of a show, but it is a MUST LISTEN.
This guys is a brilliant and INTENSE mind in economics, and he's analyzing everything from Rosevelt to current economic "recovery"...
Maybe it'll link later, but absolutely will show up here eventually..

(20,453 posts)Is anyone surprised when so many are afraid to endorse mathematical models that consider what they should in order to predict what will help pull us out of this mess?
At the earlier post, I hadn't finished listening, and then up came the story of how a bunch of insulated, head-in-the-sand economist jumped on the person who assessed with clarity what would be a thumbs up for Bernie Sanders recovery.

(55,745 posts)Dr. Galbraith makes clear the Dismal Science. I also appreciate his work as a historian. What follows, unfortunately, is all from memory, a few notes and in crude, layman's terms:
Galbraith's memories what happened to the economic stimulus package between Candidate Obama and President Obama are quite telling, and show how very much Wall Street calls the shots in Washington.
His explanation and support for Keynesian economics, with examples of what works from the New Deal and World War II and why Government DOES create jobs should be the central beam in the Democratic platform. Again, because it's not -- seeing how government employment reduces the labor pool (one of those "Rules of Thumb" -- shows how much Wall Street calls the shots in Washington.
His analysis of the Economists in Academia is most telling, a corrupt group of ostriches with their heads in the sand who parrot one another instead of learning -- or hiring -- anyone new. Case in point, universities have only offered tenure track positions to economists who were wrong about the corrupt practices leading up to the Banksters and the crash of 2007-2008.
I will be buying his books:
"The End of Normal"
"Inequality: What Everyone Needs to Know"
"Welcome to the Poisoned Chalice."
Harry Shearer I've long admired -- from his work on SNL and with David Ossman and Firesign Theatre. They're geniuses, too.
Wow! What an interview. Thank you, MrMickeysMom! I'd never have heard it without ya!
