Trump and Clinton close to dead heat in national poll.

Boy. Hillary can't even hold a lead against Trump. And heaven help us if the Reps nominate a more "mainstream" candidate or if the FBI net continues to tighten. Maybe DWS can arrange for the general election to be closed?

The Republican Party could have had a slam dunk election in 2016 pollsters say, but not with their two highly unlikable candidates – Donald Trump and Ted Cruz – leading the ticket.

A new George Washington University Battleground Poll came out today, which shows Trump losing to Hillary Clinton by three points and getting trounced by Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders.

However, another type of Republican would have had better luck.

'The Republican Party has a strongly favorable political environment for winning the White House,' said the Tarrance Group's Ed Goeas, one of the Republican pollsters who conducted the bipartisan survey.

'If a mainstream Republican candidate were the presumptive nominee, the GOP would likely be in a strong position for a lot of wins, top to bottom in November,' he added.
