At ‘Top Ten’ Universities, Hillary Got 83% of All Employee Donations, Trump, Zero. Literally.

Our nation’s top universities educate many of the country’s most influential leaders, including all but one of the Republican and Democratic contenders for President. These same elite institutions often contend they foster an environment where all beliefs are accepted and that they just teach students “how” to think not “what to think.” Most educators would insist there is not an overtly liberal bias in education, but a LawNewz.com analysis seems to confirm conservatives’ greatest fears.

We spent days combing through Federal Election Commission records, and determined that the employees at the nation’s ‘Top 10? universities are overwhelmingly in support of Democratic presidential candidates. In fact, according to our analysis, Hillary Clinton got a whopping 83% of all donations from professors, administrators, and employees. Since last January, she brought in nearly $1 million from these university employees. The next closest is Bernie Sanders who received 7% of all donations or about $65,000. Apparently, professors don’t love Bernie as much as their students do.

However, there is one Presidential contender who university employees really really don’t like. Republican front runner Donald Trump literally got no donations — not one — in the hundreds that we sorted through.

To conduct our analysis, we used the U.S. News & World Report rankings which puts Princeton University, Harvard University, Yale University, Columbia University, Stanford University, University of Chicago, MIT, Duke University, University of Pennsylvania, California Institute of Technology, and Johns Hopkins University in the top ten. By way of background, Hillary Clinton attended Yale Law School. Bernie Sanders went to University of Chicago. Ted Cruz went to Princeton and Harvard Law School. And, Donald Trump attended The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania.

Bernie only got 7% of donations. I guess the professors don't like him.

Bernie's free college idea is unpopular among university professors because they get free money from the federal government in the form of grants and they can charge high tuition fees because the student loan program makes it possible. All that privilege will go away and students will be the beneficiaries if Bernie becomes the President.

but they don't give a rats ass about tuition. It has zero
bearing on how much they get paid. Admin cares...trustees
care...the local construction COs care. Professors....not really.

I know quite a few of them. They definitely fear Bernie for the reason I stated. I got this information directly from them. That is why they support Hillary and Jeb Bush. They even told me when it seemed like when Bernie would become the nominee, they were comfortable with Jeb Bush because they feel equally comfortable with Hillary and Jeb Bush as their policies are similar.

These professors get federal grants in the hundreds of thousands of dollars but are no Einsteins. These grants are in addition to their salaries but like most professors who receive grants, they do not produce anything of value nor do they contribute any pathbreaking ideas. They teach and that is about it but even there, many of them just send their student assistants to teach.

They care about tuition because large universities get hundreds of millions of dollars as tuition fee. Without the student loan program, their rates would not be inflated.

And they're mainly unionized.

I'm actually surprised that 83% went to Hillary. I would have thought she and Bernie would have been pretty split, or that Bernie would have gotten more, as professors are generally more progressive than average and he is the more progressive candidate. Not sure what's up there but I'd want to read more specifics because it seems weird.

...is a naive idea. Because that's the "doughnut hole" of his college spending plan: asking governors to make up the difference between cost and federal spending.

You don't need a doctorate to know how unlikely that is to happen from Republican governors.
