2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWill Bernie endorse Hillary? Of course.
There's a lot of speculation right now, and Bernie is being a bit coy about it, but he'll come around. There are a few things contributing to his coyness. He's still in the campaign, and it seems like he's getting annoyed by getting asked that question over and over. Also, he's sore from the big loss in new New York, where he tried to go negative against Hillary but it backfired and blew up in his face. And generally, nobody likes losing.
But time heals, and Bernie knows what is at stake. He's going to do everything he can to get Hillary and other down-ballot Dems elected. I think the Dems will throw him a few bones in the party platform, so he can point to them when making a case to his supporters that they should support Hillary. In fact, the coyness he is showing now could make his eventual endorsement more effective. He can then make the case that he didn't endorse just her out of obligation.

(3,014 posts)She needs to earn my vote. I've never voted for a republican so she's going to need to give me a reason to vote for her.

(19,877 posts)The Republican frontrunner is an orange white supremacist who wants to punish women who have abortions, make racism codified law, deport millions of hard working families, start 3 wars, destroy unions, and undo marriage equality.
If that doesnt terrify you, you must have the luxury and privilege of being unaffected by Trumps SCOTUS picks.

She may be the most mild in this case. But I only vote for liberals and progressives. So now I have a moral dilemma. My best bet is to vote Stein or write in Bernie.
Again...I don't vote for republicans. And her views align with traditional conservatism. And I just can't vote for a conservative. :dunno:

(12,769 posts)I will never vote for Hillary. I don't care what Bernie says about her and neither do most other Bernie supporters. We think for ourselves and don't need anyone telling us who or what to support.

(2,280 posts)Bernie will campaign for her enthusiastically, the same as Hillary did for Obama. That's the way the game works. I'm sure there will be a few die-hard holdouts, but most Bernie supporters are not of that variety, and will get on board.

(2,280 posts)that will "never vote for Hillary" make up only a small portion of Bernie's supporters. And even a lot of people that are saying they won't vote for her will come around. It's a long time until November, and the sore feelings will heal. Same thing happened in 2008.

You'd think time would heal after running for office for 16 years, but the very system she helped foster in is the only thing she'll agree to, and fuck off, everybody else because she'll never agree to Bernie Sanders action on these issues.
Your case for "time heals" is empty as a Brock contract on internet trolls.
