Bernie Sanders Wont Drop Out, Heres Why
by THOMAS KNAPP
Bernie Sanders says hes taking the Democratic presidential nomination contest all the way to the partys national convention in Philadelphia at the end of July. Believe it.
With increasing intensity after each primary or caucus he loses and for that matter after each primary or caucus he wins party big-wigs call on him to concede the race and get out of Hillary Clintons way. Politicos informal April survey of anonymous Democratic insiders has nearly 90% wanting Sanders out no later than the DC primary in mid-June and only 10% urging him to hold out to the bitter end.
Why isnt he listening to the 90%? As a Florida Democrat told Politico, [t]here is no path, and there is no math. Actually there are at least four paths.
Path #1: Clintons health fails in a very big and very public way. Shes had multiple public fainting spells since 2005, including one resulting in a broken elbow in 2009. In 2012, she suffered a concussion and was hospitalized with cerebral venous thrombosis, a life-threatening blood clot condition. Her campaign health statement acknowledges these problems and throws in hypothyroidism to boot, although characterizing the 67-year-old as enjoying excellent health.
Path #2: Clinton is indicted in, or otherwise dragged down over, the Servergate affair, in which she appears to have illegally mishandled classified information while Secretary of State.

(14,498 posts)Lots more delegates to be selected before then and collectively the delegates decide party platform... which even in 2016 has at least SOME relevance.
Besides... many hundreds of thousands have been working in California and other late-primary states ( not mention sending cash) and they deserves a chance to push the tenets of the Sanders movement in their own states and insist on a dialogue w. the party's (apparently dominant) corporate RW ( i.e. Clinton, et al.)
Senator Senators really hasn't much choice here. And he ain't a-goin' nowhere.... I don't THINK.

It has nothing to do with winning.

(14,498 posts)... then for a "female candidate" ?

(10,476 posts)But since you can't...

(14,498 posts).... human being has ever fainted.
Is that correct?
Unrelatedly.... you are supporting Clinton. Yes?

(10,476 posts)Not a fucking literal fact for every male or female in recorded history, for fuck's sake.
Smarmie Doofus
(14,498 posts)>>>Sure, if you could point to anywhere in history where fainting is associated with males
But since you can't... >>>>

(12,689 posts)Wow, how honorable would it be for Sanders to be the nominee because Clinton ended up really sick. The sooner this primary ends, the better. This is trash.

(3,111 posts)No matter how factual. Not matter how principled. No matter how valid.
I mean, I know there's an overriding air of cynicism in Camp Clinton, but come on. There are lots of valid reasons to stay in, and very few to get out.
