2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary Clinton Trolls Shut Down Pro-Bernie Sanders Facebook Groups
Some of the biggest pro-Bernie Sanders groups on Facebook were briefly taken down Monday evening in a targeted attack by Hillary Clinton supporters.
The groups Bernie Sanders Activists, Bernie Believers, BERNIE OR BUST, Bernie Sanders Revolutionaries, Bay Area for Bernie, Bernie Sanders 2016 Ideas Welcome, Bernie Sanders is my HERO, and Bernie Sanders for President 2016 were all taken down in the attack. The pages in question were reported to be down for about three hours, from 9 p.m. to midnight Monday night.
<snip>
The groups were targeted by online trolls, who posted pornographic images and reported the groups to Facebook admins. Some legitimate Bernie supporters even reported seeing images containing pedophilia, according to reporting from Heavy.com.
Erica Libenow, a Sanders supporter and member of one of the pro-Bernie groups, said, We had what looked like a kiddie porn posted in one of our groups today. I reported that one. Seriously made me want to vomit.
<snip>
Other Hillary Clinton fans were cheering on Champagnes trolling, encouraging him to try to take down Bernie Sanders official Facebook page. Another Facebook user openly admitted that her husband frequently reported pro-Sanders posts on Facebook in hopes that they would be taken down, saying his success rate was about 50/50 on a good day.

Must be a proud day for Clinton and her supporters. Woo-hoo, winning!
I wonder if Hillary is as proud as the day when she had her daughter go out campaigning and lie about Bernie's health care plan? What a great example to follow!

BS'ers see a conspiracy everywhere and it always carries the initials HRC.

(45,850 posts)so is it that's you guys feel there's more juice in blaming Bernie supporters or was it Hillary's townhall where she pretty much destroyed the unity illusion?
but here's Hillary's folks celebrating the FB page takedowns

(26,795 posts)That's a dog-whistle weasel word when used like that, Sheep.
For one, it's possible that one bad actor did something nasty without anyone else being involved. That's not a conspiracy. But if two or more did, it is a conspiracy. And if someone alleges as much, it's a theory about a potential conspiracy.
Prosecutors do that for a living and no one accuses them of wearing a tin-foil hat.
And when something stinks, you have to consider the possibility that a dead rat is involved.
Sheepshank
(12,504 posts)and those conspiracy theorists insist (yes, there have been multiple persons postulating the conspiracy...look at all of the threads, it's not that hard to find), without a shred of evidence, that their FB groups were shut down because of the actions of HRC and her supporters. Let me say that again, WITHOUT A SHRED OF EVIDENCE. Makes it a conspiracy.
Wilms
(26,795 posts)I did, and it makes for interesting reading.
So, if person A makes a wild claim, that means nothing happened? No, it doesn't.
Now, for the not so wild claim. We have (Hillary supporter Zuckerberg's) FaceBook canning Sanders' groups at the same time it was revealed that HRC/Brock are spending a million to get up in the face of Sanders' supporters.
That much is not disputed.
Sheepshank
(12,504 posts)Wilms
(26,795 posts)Let's see. I have asserted the following:
1. Zuckerburg owns FB
2. Zuck supports Clinton
3. HRC/Brock have launched an online effort to get up in the face of Sanders' supporters.
4. Sanders' supporters pages are taken down.
So, what did I make up?

Sheepshank
(12,504 posts)"cackling", what a nasty, hate filled description. But frankly I thought it a big fucking joke on BSers right from the beginning, and all the conspiracies that followed were completely predictable.
the reality is very different
polly7
(20,582 posts)Cackling - what's the problem??? The screenshots show them celebrating and laughing - I think of cackling when I see that kind of bullying, celebratory disconnect - like laughing over a human being sodomized with a bayonet and tortured and murdered in the street after being trapped by NATO planes overhead. You know how you just sorta associate things? - that's what I do, intentional or not.
Sheepshank
(12,504 posts)I am pretty sure you could have figured that out by now....I just thought I'd state the obvious.
You further descriptions are just you attempt at justifying your insults to some of us that would never ever have "cackled" over anything as heinous as you state...all because they don't adore your special Bernie.
pathetic and nasty as is your wont.

No, things for the rest of the world will not get better soon with this type of 'win'. Decades of it have shown people suffering in the rest of the world just how bad things can already get ........ and it's just going to get worse.
So glad it's brightened your day, personally, though! Really, all people do need to feel good about themselves for something so I suppose there is that - - for you!

(55,981 posts)more important than "weak and right". That's why we have so much poverty (50 million) because the conservatives see the poor as weak. The wealthy rationalize that they deserve to be wealthy because they are Strong.
When H.Clinton stood side by side with Bush and explained how we needed to invade Iraq, she was being "strong and wrong". She knew she was wrong but better to be "strong and wrong". Some of us don't agree with the arrogance of Bill Clinton's statement. We don't believe being strong or tough is the most important element of a leader. We think empathy is important. Empathy is laughed at as weak by the conservatives.

Bill Clinton said being wrong is ok if you are strong. "Strong and Wrong" beats "Weak and Right." He most likely isn't sorry about Iraq, because while we were wrong, we were strong.
