Related: About this forumAn Elaborate Hillary Clinton Facebook Conspiracy With Coordinated Attacks and Porn? No Just a Glitch
Users on Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter accused Hillary Clinton supportersand one SuperPACof a coordinated attack to shut down Bernie Sanders fan pages. None of it was true.<snip>
"Supporters of Bernie Sanders took to Facebook, Reddit, and Twitter late Monday night after five of their Facebook community pageswith tens of thousands of memberswent dark the night before five Democratic party primaries.
Theories on Sanderss primary subreddit and Facebook pages quickly popped up, accusing Hillary Clinton supporters of a coordinated effort to report the Sanders pages for threats of violence and child pornography until the pages went down.
Some news organizations appeared to back some of the theories. Paste Magazine headlined one story, Clinton's Internet Supporters, Allegedly Using Pornography, Shut Down Bernie Sanders' Largest Facebook Groups in Coordinated Attack, while USUnCut ran a story headlined, Hillary Clinton Trolls Shut Down Pro-Bernie Sanders Facebook Groups. Salon joined in, too, pointing to a mystery over booted Bernie Sanders Facebook groups.
At least some of the attacks originated from a rival Facebook group of Clinton supporters, reports say, the Salon story reads.
But Facebookand now even the affected pro-Sanders groups themselvessay that the real problem was merely a database error that affected more pages than just Sanders-leaning community pages."

The largest Facebook group affected, the verified The People for Bernie Sanders account, put out this statement early on Tuesday.
We're aware many of the pro Bernie groups were removed from Facebook. They're back. It was a Facebook database error, not a conspiracy or an attack. Stay calm, phonebank, or get to a field office to win Tuesday, the group wrote.

As stated above, this was not promoted or supported by the leadership of B4H, nor were we immediately aware of this conduct. We removed the offending posts and member as soon as possible. While our leadership team of administrators tries to catch every questionable post and comment, with over 7,000 members and on a 24-hour posting cycle, some fall through the cracks. We rely on members to "flag and report" harmful, offensive, or trolling behavior, and apologize to the groups that were affected. This member acted on his own authority, is not apart of our leadership team, and does not represent our ideals or our opinions."

You're going to have to do better than that. Even HillBros had to release a statement about one of the shitbags involved.
Facebook has an automated system that shuts pages and users down when they've been overreported. The same thing happened last week to Election Justice USA in regards to over reporting.

Some of the images were so disgusting and they were being posted so quickly that the hosts could not pull them down fast enough, and also lodged complaints with Facebook..
That is; hosts of Bernie groups had to be complicit in shutting down there own sites because they could not keep up with deleting vile disgusting images... some images appeared to include child porn.

This kind of stuff never fools anyone. Hopefully the miscreants will get caught.

(38,687 posts)The purported simultaneous disappearance of multiple Bernie Sanders Facebook groups caused a rash of rumors, but the groups quickly returned.
<snip>
On 26 April 2016, digital and social media manager for the Sanders campaign Aiden King addressed the rumors on the campaign's official Slack channel:
According to Aiden King, the digital and social media manager for Sanders' campaign, the groups' closures was the result of a bug that affected many Facebook groups, not just pro-Bernie Sanders groups.
"All of the groups are back up and it wasn't just Bernie groups," King shared on the ConnectWithBernie slackchat. "Facebook hasn't released a public statement but they had a bug and it closed a ton of Facebook groups. Our supporters are just more vocal so the internet blew up with 'Bernie groups being shut down' rather than 'Facebook groups are being shut down."
