A Facebook post by Casey Champagne, whose secondary name on his profile was listed as Casey Max Charbonneau (pictured below with Hillary Clinton) and whose Facebook likes included Correct The Record and Barrier Breakers 2016 (Brocks recently launched online operation), confirmed that Clinton trolls were behind the attack when he bragged in the Facebook group Bros 4 Hillary that he managed to get one of the groups banned for containing credible threat of violence:
It should be noted that there is nothing officially linking Brocks Barrier Breakers to the Facebook attacks, and beyond the post on Bros4Hillary (which has itself been shut down in response), theres no clear evidence who was behind the coordinated attacks.
But lets say, for arguments sake, that this purge was a move by David Brock to silence Hillary Clintons online opposition during the crucial evening hours before five primary contests, and prevent a contested convention. Lets also say it was calculated to generate disproportionate backlash to feed the narrative that Bernies online supporters are bullies and aggressive. Does this really make sense?

I also really hate bullshit conspiracy theories, of which this is one.
Have a great night.

A "glitch" usually doesn't involve someone deliberately engaging in "harassing behavior toward Facebook groups . . ." - but perhaps you have a different definition of the term?

(3,003 posts)"automated processes being applied incorrectly"
FB has systems in place to automatically lock groups pending official review if it receives a certain number of reports in a timeframe. The groups shouldn't have been automatically locked true, but someone exploited that system to force the system to lock it with a bogus report swarm.
We corrected the problem within hours and are working to improve our tools.
The groups were reenabled after official review and they are taking steps to ensure that their system which is designed to automatically lock groups for official review can't be played over by report swarms.
Facebook hasn't outright confirmed that it was a report bombing that did it, and they haven't outright denied it.
If they outright deny that report swarms did it, then we can call it debunked. But until they outright deny it, then it's always a possibility.
At any rate, the actions of the B4H group - And the statement they put out in regards to one of their members - makes it really hard to blame the lockings on a benign 'just a minor glitch' issue.
