(14,255 posts)I don't care WHO parrots this crap.
For someone who sneeringly said she doesn't need Bernie's supporters - there sure are a lot of surrogates out there begging to differ. odd.

(8,217 posts)However, he was not a Sanders supporter. So that is misleading. I understand that he likes Bernie, but he has been first and foremost for Hillary from day one.
It did not come as a surprise to me that he was for Hillary since I believe that he genuinely likes her.
That, does not change the fact that George Takei is an amazing individual whose values, compassion and humanity I can appreciate.
It also does not diminish all the advocacy and humanitarian efforts that he has fought for.
So, I can appreciate that he has not called for things to end, and has mentioned that he wants the primaries to continue, as there are still states that have not yet voted.
Unfortunately, for me, Clinton's campaign has definitely gone too far. Not her supporters, her campaign itself, as they crossed a line that should not have been crossed. Bernie's campaign really took it very easy on Hillary. His campaign itself, did not attack her(much/enough) for her foreign policy, and in fact defended her on her emails, and other disastrous decision making policies she has advocated for.
Much of the so called attacks on her policy-wise is quite valid, as her grasp on events and policy changes dependent on time, place and whomever she's talking to. Thing is, matters that gets complained about tends to be self-inflicted wounds, by her own bad decision making, from the Iraq War, Trade Agreements, Appropriations, and Hawk-like foreign policy which only brings us more enemies.
Come November, such pandering will not be working as well, as the Republican tends to lie without thinking, as such their delivery can be more convincing to those that do not pay attention. Trump's speech after yesterday's primaries are chilling in that he is now trying to sound reasonable. His campaign slogan is to "Renegotiate every agreement we've had to get a better deal" can resonate to a whole swath of voters, particularly those that do not pay attention in primaries. That scares me.
I agree with Takei that Hillary at worst is still better than a Republican at best... Unfortunately, lately, it feels like it is not much.
Much like how I feel Obama and his capitulation towards the Republicans, giving them what they want and more, has brought the country further and further towards the Right, especially as he passed legislation that would not have passed under a Republican as Obama lambasted Democrats for not going along. I fear Hillary will do the same.
However, yes, I will gag and throw up a bit if I have to vote for her come November, though I do not see myself donating or helping her campaign. I don't see a point, on putting out fires that she starts off herself. That pledge of voting blue no matter who, is useless on me, as I will do it any way. The problem is, again, do not expect Bernie supporters to suddenly help out Clinton or vote for her. She has to earn that herself.
It was really nice being able to vote my conscience for once...

(16,685 posts)Sanders himself can ask me to vote for Hillary and it won't make a difference. I will decide whether to vote for her on my own and she's got a hell of a lot of explaining to do.
