Wednesday started off as any other day at the Sunrise Family Restaurant, that is, until Pamela Kieft and her husband got a phone call from one of their employees.

“The girls said the SWAT team was here, they didn’t understand what was going on,” said Pamela Kieft, owner.

But it wasn’t the SWAT team, it was actually the Secret Service. Looking to grab a bite to eat before hitting the road to Bloomington, Indiana, was Bernie Sanders and crew.

“We didn’t know he was coming, so this was quite the surprise for both of us,” said Kieft, “They said they had heard really good things about our restaurant and that’s why they chose to come here… I’m like ‘Oh, I’m so honored!'”
