2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIt doesn't make sense for Bernie supporters to harass superdelegates and call them "bitches"
Right now it's obvious that Bernie Sanders will not be leading in pledged delegates or the popular vote when the 2016 primary season concludes. In order for him to win the nomination, he will need superdelegates to put him over the top.
So it doesn't make sense for his supporters to harass them, call them bitches, or say they should be assassinated.
It's self-defeating.
-----------------------
Nancy Schumacher says she just wanted to do her civic duty, and so she heeded the call to become a superdelegate for Hillary Clinton. But in the year of the angry voter, not even an administrative assistant from Elk River, Minnesota, can escape the outrage.
"Some of the (phone and email) messages called me names. Some of them called Hillary names. And others said I was a stupid bitch and something bad will happen to me," said Schumacher, a Democratic committee member. "It's kind of hard to take sometimes."
<...>
Schumacher says she's received vitriolic phone and email messages from self-identified Sanders backers and doesn't quite understand how things got quite so nasty. Eight years ago, she backed Clinton but said she "cheerfully" switched to Illinois Sen. Barack Obama. She'd do the same, she said, if Sanders won the popular vote or pledged delegates from state primary elections.
<...>
Gus Bickford, the former executive director of the Massachusetts Democratic Party, was taken aback by the threats that flowed into his inbox and onto his Facebook page.
"Someone put up a list of the superdelegates and a person from Rhode Island posted a response that basically said, 'They should all be assassinated' and then said 'I'm only joking,'" recalled Bickford. "With the way people are talking, you never know who's going to take something like that seriously."

(2,052 posts)every call has been made by a true blue Sanders backer.
I have met hundreds of Sanders volunteers and supporters during this campaign. To a person, nobody espouses this behavior. So you tell me where it's coming from. I'm not saying all, but their is definitely some friendly fire here.
Again though, you all have this wrapped up yet are OBSESSED with taking down people you NEED for October. It's actually getting comical.

Nancy Schumacher is a genuine superdelegate
But her list of more than 60 supporters also includes House DFL leader Paul Thissen, 14 other DFL lawmakers, Minneapolis Mayor Betsy Hodges, St. Paul Mayor Chris Coleman, Hubert Buck Humphrey of the Humphrey family, Education Minnesota president Denise Specht, Democratic National Committee member Nancy Schumacher a superdelegate and an array of former officials, city council members and activists. Another Clinton endorser is Alan Page, newly freed to endorse after retiring from the Minnesota Supreme Court this summer.

(1,729 posts)And then they should collect all those screen captures into one image to show you exactly how vicious, vitriolic, and hateful Bernie supporters have been to the super delegates, all while apparently hoping that will motivate them to switch to their candidate.
Never mind that these supers are committed to the success of a party that Bernie disparaged for years (and yes, caucused with because, like, it's not like the Republicans would have him), but after the abuse they've taken on their social media pages, I can't imagine the supers are going to switch. I have noticed a slight change in tone since Tuesday. Now I've seen Bernie supporters toning it down practically to the point of pleading with the supers, but they should have tried that to begin with rather than arrogantly berating them.
I notice they don't tell Raúl Grijalva to support the majority vote of his state, a point that not a single Sanders supporter on this site has yet addressed the numerous times I've brought that point up.
Here's just a tiny taste of how they've been to Howard Dean.

(9,288 posts)Super-delegates should be either gotten rid of, or only used in the event of a tie.
Super-delegates and caucuses are horribly undemocratic and I wouldn't support anyone (Bernie or Hillary) who wins the nomination using Super delegates when they lost via pledge delegates.
In fact, I prefer if we went by popular vote only. This is supposed to be the DEMOCRATIC party, we should run our primaries like it.
Again, I say this regardless of who is winning and by what means.

I don't condone that kind of language or allusions but then again candidate Clinton pondered presumptive nominees assassination as a reason to not drop out of the 2008 primary. She really set the bar.
