Related: About this forumHillary campaign staffer asked me what do Bernie or Bust types need...
This person knows I work on the Sanders campaign, locally.
This person has read and heard over and over about how Bernie or Bust types need to be given a reason to vote for Hillary, which this person assumes means they need something from Hillary as in promises for their own needs.
My friend and I are the types who never vote for our own personal needs but the needs of those with less power than us, or those targeted to HAVE less than us, so we are not used to how to handle this.
i told her I would ask.
What exactly does Hillary have to promise YOU, for YOU, so she can have your vote?
I know Bernie has never promised ME a god damn thing, I have healthcare, dont need a higher education, so my support of Bernie has always been about what his agenda can do for others.
So again, what does Hillary have to promise YOU?

Read the paper in my .sig for example, the last 20 years of dysfunctional health care has been a lie.
a phony crisis that didnt have to happen because we already pay 2/3 of every health care dollar so we likely could have single payer right now for free.
The more you lie the more you have to lie more. Read Hannah Arendt, the Origins of Totalitarianism, about the onion skinned nature of totalitarian regimes.

(1,975 posts)For me, it would be for her to take a stance on marijuana, whether medicinal or recreational. As a disabled person in my state I HAVE to take morphine, hydromorphone, and a slew of other medications that will probably kill me. I know for a fact that marijuana helps alleviate my pain so that I can have a quality of life without being hooked on opioids.
I'd also like to hear her say that she plans on making a change in the for profit prison systems being run in this country. The US is a laughing stock when it comes to the prison system. What sounds better, try to rehabilitate, train a prisoner skills that he can use on the outside to become a productive member of society, or lock them up for 5-10 years and then then let them back into your and mine community?
I have a few others, but these two were on the top of my mind and I think are a good start. Thank you.

You know what you're asking is something she's shown she's not been capable of to date...
So here goes, She needs to promise me she will open up town hall events every month or every other month that's televised and an audience that's NOT screened and with questions not vetted prior, and taking at least two hours to answer as many questions within that allotted time
I want the public to be able to QA her and make her and her policies accessible to the public, if she want's us 'with her' she needs to show us she's with us...
She needs to close that unfavorable gap with a HUGE action on her part
Consider this the modern age 'fireside chats' with conversation and feedback, that's the promise I'd like to see her accept

She has promised me with her wealth of foreign policy experience, she will make sure war is the last option and diplomacy is first. (4,667 posts)Its all BS.
>that she has the experience to take this country forward by making sure the remaining 29million will get the health insurance.
Not only is that total bullshit, her policy when expressed in private is setting up a global trade in exchange for the prvatizations overseas that is going to give them US jobs, overwhelmingly in the PUBLIC SECTOR. Virtually the entire public sector is up for grabs and the jobs will be won in global procurement systems by the lowest qualified bidders firms internationally.
> they have a right to.
You're dreaming if you think there are any rights to health care, quite the opposite, the US has been fighting tooth and nail - against it- creating new permanent, irrevocable new property rights for corporations to PREVENT public health care and education.
Not only has the 1995 trade deal pushed by the Clintons and its successor deals like TISA- constitute a literal war on public services- and afordability, framing it as a theft from corporations of their markets - the single largest barrier in the entire world to public health care - that also applies to education and they are waging a global war on public education, forcing countries to privatize by means of these trade deals that one needs to understand are an attack on the future - a future where technology is improving and the job as we know it today is vanishing at an exponentially increasing rate.
>She has promised me with her wealth of foreign policy experience,
Is this a joke, or satirical?
>she will make sure war is the last option and diplomacy is first.
thats BS because if anything shes been doing the exact opposite-
>She has promised me that racial discrimination still exists and she will put policies in place to make sure all have a fair shot to better our lives.
Right, she's putting policies in place that will give foreign corporations an equal chance to win newly privatized US public sector jobs - with those jobs going to the lowest qualified bidder thats what GATS and tiSA do, to increase corporate profits.
You need to understand that when narcisists tell you they are giving you a present, its always the exact opposite, a Trojan Horse. And the GATS deal with its claims that "progressive liberalisation" will reduce the gaps between the rich and poor countries is like el dorado being waved in front of the poor countries, but its a false riches because in 20 years were really really going to need public health care. in the 20 years of GATS at least a million Amercans have lost their lives unnecessarily because of being denied health care when we were already paying enough to get healthcare to give it to everybody for free- But they had to have a phony crisis to sell the deal- so they made health care do everything they knew woudnt work - which of course was compliant with ther extremist ideology.
>She has promised me she will build on President Obama's policies. She has promised me that will work her heart out for other Democrats. She has promised me the economy will be the first thing she fix and increase the minimum.
And the list goes on and on.
GOHILLARY!!!
Its al total BS. She worked behind the scenes to deny a small increase in minimum wage in haiti. She helped legitimize a coup which overthrew the government of Hnduras after the elected president just suggested a national poll on whether increasing the minimum wage was possible.

(4,667 posts)Hillary is the austerity candidate who wants to trade away Americans jobs for higher corporate profits by means of the horrible deal GATS which has already destroyed literally a third of many US families equity. the cost per person on health care alone will probably be a half million dollars per capita.
Also, those jobs that are being traded away are basically the jobs of future young people and current civil servants and quasi cvil servants like teachers and nurses who have been kept in limbo for decades while these Mode Four type deals have been being set up.
And the countries they've been waving them in front of are tired of waiting.
What is Mode Four?

Hillary Clinton has promised me that she has the experience to take this country forward by making sure the remaining 29million will get the health insurance they have a right to.
In the first place, that's not a promise - that's your expectation. And in the second place, she hasn't even provided you with a plan for making sure the remaining 29 million will get the health insurance they have a right to. However, she did attack Bernie Sanders' plan for it when he presented one, using Republican talking points (More taxes! Eek! Not going to mention the elimination of private insurance costs!)
"I'll expand the ACA" is not a plan. It's a vague generality. Plans for universal health care involve saying who will be covered, how they will be covered, and how it will be funded, as his single-payer health care plan did.

If anything she and her husband are just as complicit as 19th century slave owners. Her complicity and willingness to take money from the for profit prison system has crippled generations of POC lives and families lives. This is nothing more than a 21st century war against civil rights.
But then again, I will vote for her in the general election. I'm not sure what that says about me anymore though.

Reform in the party.

(6,282 posts)1) Not support the PATRIOT act and similar provisions which invade Americans' personal privacy; reverse position on making encryption illegal (do I have to dig up the clip from December 2015 where she mocks free speech advocates...?)
2) Disavow David Brock, Peter Daou; do not seek super PAC contributions from the financial industry, the oil industry or ANY registered lobbyists (the Obama pledge from 2008) and follow campaign finance coordination rules wrt super PACs (notice I'm not a purist, I am not asking her to disavow super PACs altogether; doing what I propose would make me comfortable with her stance on this issue)
3) Promise that Sid Blumenthal, Kagan, or Gates will never be involved in her foreign policy team, as staffers or as advisors.
4) Oppose the death penalty.
5) Support Bernie's climate change bill.
None of these should be too difficult if she is truly a progressive, nor should they compromise her ability to win a general election.

I too need nothing from her. I have a good job, healthcare and freedom. Hillary threatens that freedom - but I am tough and can fight. Rather Hillary needs to embrace others and care for them. She needs to understand what poverty really is...what prejudice really is...what all women choosing abortion face and how horrible to be judged by her it is.
Again I need nothing from her - but honesty.

(8,217 posts)I understand that the operative word is changing one's mind, however, as President that just does not cut it.
She wishes to lead, but in general, she merely follows what is popular or makes a calculation on what would make her look good.
In essence, she changes her position, story, even her accent, dependent on where she is, who she's talking to, and the crowd's position.
She went from Moderate to Progressive, to not even bothering with the pretense of being a Progressive, where to me it all came to a head on the NY debate.
In the NY debate, she debated like a Republican War Hawk. Starting off with 9/11, the insistence of the "I did this", and in other debates, changing her position within the hour.
It really makes me question her grasp on policy, history and everything else at best, some would just call her a liar/panderer outright.
So, start with consistency. Figure out exactly what her bottom line is. Figure out, what is it exactly that she wants to be able to do as President if she can actually get things done. Figure out the best possible outcome, and negotiate from there, stick with it.
I mean, she changes her mind so much that some would question her decision making abilities, as she's been wrong in so many issues.
So, start there.
