2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumConfirmed: A Sanders surrogate lied on MSNBC last night.
Jane Sanders said that super pacs have spent 70 million dollars in Hillary Clinton's behalf to date.
It's actually 31.2 million dollars.
Where are the tax returns, Jane?

Now, Clinton's spouse is not usually considered an example of one of the most honest people in the world - and that is based on the real meaning of lying.

(59,504 posts)What I meant is that there is at least as much reason to think the number was defined wrong or she just remembered the wrong number. Ask yourself if the real number sends a different message - it doesn't to me. Both convey just "big number".
Should we parse every Clinton (take your choice which) statement to look for factual errors -- and call them lies?

Now that 31 million dollar figure you are throwing around is how much SuperPacs have SPENT for Clinton.
All of the numbers are right here.
So where are those transcripts, Hillary.
radical noodle
(8,013 posts)The 76 million figure is how much has been raised. The spent total is 31.5
TM99
(8,352 posts)SuperPAC's have raised 1/3 of the total contributions for the Clinton campaign. That is a fact.
The total spent is more than any other candidate including Sanders except for Bush. That is a fact.
It is obvious what the point was, and it is smear to call this a surrogate lying.
It is a convenient deflection from the sickness that is this much cash coming from supposedly bad CU SuperPACs!

(68,689 posts)Kind of ironic for a guy who wants the money out of politics.
Sanders wants Wall Street to stop quid pro quo relationships with politicians and wants an end to the revolving door of lobbyists and SuperPAC money in DC.
He spent 11 million more being the underdog. At least none of his money is from SuperPAC unlike her's which totals almost 1/3 of her raised money.
Actually let's add this. Clinton did actually spend more once you count the 31.5 million her coordinated SuperPAC's spent on her campaign. She is outspending Sanders by over 20 million.

(68,689 posts)There was more money thrown against Sherrod Brown last time.
TM99
(8,352 posts)as Clinton has never run in a GE either.
Sanders has shown that even when SuperPAC's threw 100's of millions at Jeb Bush, he failed quickly. Even when Clinton gets tens of millions more than Sanders, she is still in a race for her career.
Demsrule86
(68,689 posts)Having seen Sherrod Brown's numbers go down after the Koch money hit...it is relevant. The only thing that saved Brown was Josh Mandel was a terrible candidate. You guys don't live in the real world. Have you ever volunteered for a campaign?
TM99
(8,352 posts)starting with Jesse Jackson when you were likely a child or not even born, so spare me your bullshit.
But you are right in one sense, the Koch's definitely will attack Sanders when he is the GE candidate. If, god forbid, Clinton gets the nomination, then they will simply give her money because they funded the DLC and recently said she was a great moderate Republican.
So tell me again who lives in the real fucking world?

She is trying to keep those tax returns hidden until they've totally lost the bubble, and then it won't matter.

Sanders will have to retire from public life, because those returns will remain a narrative any time he pokes his head up.
He shouldn't send his wife out to fight his battles.

(786 posts)She will keep those under lock and key and I cannot wait to hear about all of those contracts for military arms, jets, uranium from the countries do stings tens of million or more to The Clinton Foundation..... So many thing so much more interesting than a tax return.....
BTW. Bill shouldn't be sent out since he doesn't know how to keep the laws on staying 150 ft. away from a voting station and to not block polling station entrances either like he did in MA in several polling stations. Then he went off on Black Lives Matters as well as making the crack about killing every 3rd person on Wall Street....He needs to be under lock and key with those comments and that kind of activity.

(786 posts)dollars going thru the Clinton Foundation will certainly come into question. The FACT that as Secretary of State The Clinton Foundation received hundreds of millions of dollars from foreign countries that ended up securing arms contracts, uranium deals, Boeing contracts.......these are smoking guns. This is against the law. This is conflict of interest.
We aren't even talking about e-mails and The private server in the Clinton's basement. All of the lies about the e-mails and the e-mails that were erased but shouldn't have been. The e-mails that were all turned over for the investigation, so say Hillary Clinton but then more so happen to be found. Hillary Clinton is running for President of the United States while being investigated by the FBI. Unprecedented.
We won't get into the possible President of the United States giving speeches to Goldman Sachs and like type corporations for hundreds of thousands of dollars. Then she claims that she is not beholding to Wall Street or the Banks but won't release the transcripts of any of those speeches?
While she was a Senator, tell me what she accomplished. What did she actually do while she was a Senator? Bernie Sanders while a Senator and Congressman has a very very long list of accomplishments.
While Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State tell me what were her accomplishments other than deposing the head of state of Libya, allowing Hondouras 's coup to go unsupported and the leader to be overthrown with no support. To not help Haiti when they were fighting for a pay raise from $.41/HR to $.51/HR ended up with $.31/HR All leading to the present violence in Libya, Honduras and Haiti...... Other than that what has Hillary Clinton accomplished?
insta8er
(960 posts)worried about the poorest senator in the senate. I can see where the outrage is here, I mean we do want to see his cayman holdings . Don't get me wrong he should show them, but the faux outrage about it taking this long..come on. What do you expect? I expect a hell of a lot more if we could see the Clinton Foundation books, but I guess we won't see those anytime soon.

For people that complain endlessly about how victimized they are on this site, you sure don't have any issues attacking people you don't even know as if they personally and physically attacked you. You people act is if the Sanders have done you some great wrong. I should not be surprised, PBO got just as bad, if not worse from PUMAs, from you lot when he dared challenge your chosen candidate.
