2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumJust an observation before going to bed ...
the Hillsies are out in force tonight here at DU.
Indiana has obviously amped their posting proclivity. Wondering why (denial?, outrage at insurrection? insecurity? their earth moved? ...), but too tired to offer any cogent theories at the moment.
Anyone care to help?

(7,231 posts)and her road of inevitability is closed by now. Besides: polls have shown her dismal chances in the GE (she alone seems to be losing to ALL GOP candidates, even to Trumpm in hypothetic match-ups) and so she must be worried about that small trickle of superdelegates that publicly demonstrate willingness to support Bernie, change sides (a handful so far) etcetera. Her hold over them is fear (the Clinton enemy list). What if all her minions suddenly decide that if they collectively support the better candidate, Clinton won't be in a position to hurt them anymore, and her whole hold over them vanishes together with her chance to serve Goldman Sachs and make some more millions?

(30,613 posts)to win the primary. I guess there must be a financial incentive to win the primary, even if the GE becomes hopeless at that point.
I think even running in a primary has become personally profitable (e.g., that's why 17 GoOPers ran in the primaries). The GE is just a bonus. So who cares whether we nominate a GE winner? We. Must. Nominate. Hillary. Becau$e.

(115,748 posts)and we have to fall in line behind Hillary. The gloating had already started and now they have to dial it back. Poor babies.

(27,815 posts)Our candidate still has a lead that Bernie can't overcome. So you can understand our fear.
JimDandy
(7,318 posts)Zero. And still she stuck it out. to. the. bitter. end. Every single state voted before she gave up the ghost.
On the other hand, Sanders, today, right now, still has a chance to win--miniscule, but a chance. And there are still 13 states that would like to vote for him as their Dem of choice.
A more believable answer would have been: it's outrage that you're feeling at having to let democracy run it's course; outrage that her coronation was ruined; outrage that her time in the sun is being shaded by an "Independent whose really a socialist, not a Democrat"; outrage that she's having to spend money and time to actually earn Dems votes; and outrage that she can't pivot right yet.
NanceGreggs
(27,815 posts)... that HRC supporters might be suffering from insecurity. Given the reality of the situation, apparently we're not.
As for "Hillary stuck it out", Bernie "still has a chance to win" - sorry, I've heard it all before, and it is irrelevant.
JimDandy
(7,318 posts)The OP asked "why". You chose insecurity, and using a flippant insincere response pointed out why it is not the answer.
I provided an affirmative answer as to why--one that more likely could be attributed to a Clinton supporter.
Equal treatment is never irrelevant.

(37,748 posts)I think a flippant, insincere response to a flippant, insincere query is wholly appropriate; and by responding in kind, is in fact "equal treatment."
JimDandy
(7,318 posts)The 'equal treatment' I referred to was in reference to our discussion on the same time points in Clinton's 2008 race vs Sander's. Easy to get lost sometimes.
vdogg
(1,384 posts)As she is of Bernie now. Obama was 80 pledged delegates ahead of Hillary. Hillary is 294 pledged delegates ahead of Bernie, and yet you think Bernie has a chance? Keep peddling that lie.

(115,748 posts)Why not just sit back and wait? And why are they so pissed off that Bernie is doing exactly what Hillary did in 2008?

(9,385 posts)candidate, party, surrogates, down to supporters, they're all pissed off that they don't have any levers on Bernie. They can't withdraw funding because he has his own, and they can't withdraw media because he already is getting the least they can get away with. He does his own mega-rallies instead, which they can't duplicate.
They like controlling people. And they can't control Bernie or his supporters. There is simply nothing they can do about it, and they aren't often in that position. They don't cope with it very well.

(15,139 posts)I'm missing the fun. There was so much over the top gloating last week that today's Bernie victory must seem to them that he's the ultimate party pooper intent on spoiling the celebration.
Maybe they should listen to the voters who today sent a clear message to the establishment: "We've seen what you're trying to sell us, but we're not buying." There's still time to nominate the candidate who will beat Trump. His name is Bernie Sanders,

(1,446 posts)perhaps a 'win' where he only nets delegates in the single digits will show tangibly that the numbers just won't add up.

(10,336 posts)for months. Ever since the wheels fell off the bus at the first of the year we have been dealing with it. The Great Coast to Coast Disenfranchisement Tour derailed the discussion. Instead of talking about the Corporate Coup d'Etat, we are talking about how electable she is against Trump (that pesky triangulation thing, again)
