The Pope has NOT endorsed Bernie Sanders

There is a false story circulating from a bogus website stating that he has. He has NOT, and would not endorse any candidate for a U.S. Presidential nomination.

The story is simply false on its face.

1. The story is 100% bogus. It claims the pope endorsed Sanders in an October speech:

Here's the English transcript of that October speech. It has nothing to do with US politics:

It's not "satire" either. It's straight-up RW propaganda.

False stories seem to grow legs when they are spread. More's the pity.

Some people are idiots who believe anything they read. The poster in question belongs, by definition, to one of those two groups.

Conservatives tend to have a tougher time understanding the nuances of humor, and they are usually the first to fly off the handle when it appears before them.

But it looks real, and it was posted under the impression that it's real, and there's no indication in the OP or article that it isn't real, which makes it lousy satire. Incidentally I suggested that the OP label it as satire yesterday. OP didn't. Several others have suggested that the OP simply self-delete. OP hasn't. But s/he acknowledged that it isn't true. So there it is.

The amount of religious symbolism and terminologies swimming around Sanders campaign are truly terrifying to me because history tells us where that can lead.

I frankly think the Pope went way too far in allowing the Sanders campaign to imply a tacit endorsement as it is, but no, he did not and would not endorse a U.S. candidate. They've lost too many Catholics in the U.S. already for him to try something like that. Sad to see that Bernie supporters are still playing that tune.

Does anyone really think that his concern for social justice outweighs the Church's bedrock opposition to contraception and/or abortion? That'd be like Jamie Dimon endorsing Bolshevism.
