I love the selective outrage about protestors

First of all I'll be upfront and say that I got angry about the two women who took over the mike in Seattle and prevented Sanders from speaking to a rally at the beginning of the campaign.

I expressed that here, because so many used that to advance the Clinton campaign's marketing campaign that Bernie "has a problem" with POC and that suddenly "white progressives" were a barrier to social justice.

Having said that, and acknowledging my own partial glass house, I find it amusing and/or obnoxious and hypocritical at all of these posts suddenly appearing accusing Sanders and his supporters of being brutal bullies because of protests at Clinton's rallies.

Suddenly protests are "bad" and time for the fainting couch if people get carried away -- if the target is Clinton.

Also, the whys and wherefores of that rally are somewhat complex and confusing. this was not an organized Sanders rally -- it appears to be more oriented to opponents of Clinton's positions on Latin America and immigration. Dunno.

As for the poutrage over Sanders comments regarding protests -- I'd say that too is bogus. He was defending the right to protest. That used to be something DU and progressives/liberals used to defend in general.

There's a little bit of history behind that photo. It has to do with hysteria and Freud....

I mean, even a relatively small number of protesters would outnumber the turnout at most Hillary rallies...

I don't like people intimidating others at protests. I won't defend bad behavior.

But that's inherent in the nature of such things. Sometimes people get carried away. ......Sometimes there are small groups of determined disruption in larger rallies and protests.

That is no indication that people who supporters of Sanders are awful. It should not be used as a meme to portray that .

That is my point.

(Plus this was not an organized Sanders event.)

... no biggie, eh? Why hold someone personally responsible for their behavior when it's the "inherent nature of such things".

Good god! Do you even read what you write before clicking the "post reply" button? Or is it just an unfiltered stream of consciousness to which we're being treated? (I'm guess it's the latter.)

I won't defend bad behavior.

No, you're just passively trying to make excuses for it. (Apparently, actively defending it would be a bridge too far. So glad to see that there are limits.)

For months we've heard all about how much Clinton supporters care about their issues.

And as soon as some actual Latinos show up with a legitimate grievance, they freak right the fuck out.

This is hilarious and awesome.

I mean, look. I'm gay. I know a lot of partisans don't give a fuck about my community. They just make noises about it because it's The Acceptable Thing To Do. As soon as we ask for anything, they jump down our throats. It's just how it goes.

But it's always a minor thrill to watch the masks come flying off.
