The 2012 Senate Races
The Democratic candidates for U.S. Senate in Florida (Sen. Bill Nelson) and Ohio (Sen. Sherrod Brown) retain their leads over their challengers (Nelson leads 52 to 39 percent over Rep. Connie Mack; Brown leads 51 to 42 over state treasurer Josh Mandel). The race is closest in Virginia where Democrat Tim Kaine has a slim four-point lead (50 to 46 percent) over Republican George Allen.
This poll was conducted by telephone from Quinnipiac University's interviewing facility October 23--28, 2012. The number of likely voters interviewed in each state is 1,073 in Florida, 1,110 in Ohio and 1,074 in Virginia. In all three states, phone numbers were dialed from samples of both standard land-line and cell phones. The error due to sampling for results based on the sample in each state could be plus or minus three percentage points in Florida, Ohio, and in Virginia.

(8,968 posts)Slim lead notwithstanding, it appears that Kaine will pull it off like Webb did 4 years ago against the same flawed candidate who made it all possible.

(3,657 posts)I am super happy about Nelson.
I just detest Conman Mack and Willard the Rat has been making ads for him, saying he needs him in congress.

(6,336 posts)The hatred for Kaine and Obama here blows me away every day. Especially the "Kaine Betrayed Coal" signs all over the place.

(1,560 posts)Connie Mack, a lazy bum living off the family name, Josh Mandel, a 12-year old boy, the washed-up retread that is Mr. Macaca, and of course Akin and Mourdock, no explanation needed. If i didn't know any better i'd think that they are intentionally trying to lose this thing.

(25,415 posts)Love him doing well. He is just a wonderful Senator and down to earth guy.
Nelson looks unbeatable. I think Kaine will win his race. Allen is just so unlikable.

(6 posts)MY CLOSING ARGUMENT (feel free to copy/paste/forward, etc. -- with or without attribution):
(1) Nov. 2006: One year BEFORE the financial meltdown of 2007, Mitt Romney finishes his term as Governor of Massachusetts with a 34% approval rating.
(2) January 2010: Republican Scott Brown wins a special election to fill the vacant Senate seat of the late Ted Kennedy, who died in August of that year.
(3) October 2012: Scott Brown is in a dead heat in his race for re-election to the Senate, running against a well-funded, highly respected Democrat, Elizabeth Warren.
[Historical Note: From 1991 through 2012, four out of five governors of Massachusetts are Republicans.]
(4) October 2012: Mitt Romney is 20+ POINTS behind Barack Obama in Romney's home state of Massachusetts.
DEAR AMERICA: WE WHO KNOW HIM BEST -- THE PEOPLE OF HIS HOME STATE -- WOULDN'T TOUCH MITT ROMNEY WITH A 10 FOOT LONG BAYONNET. MAY WE RESPECTFULLY SUGGEST THAT YOU PUT HIM ON HIS EQUESTRIAN JUMPY HORSE AND SEND HIM PACKING? IF YOU WOULDNT MARRY OR GO INTO BUSINESS WITH SOMEONE WHOSE OWN NEIGHBORS AND ACQUAINTANCES DONT TRUST HIM AND TRY TO STEER YOU CLEAR, WHY MAKE SUCH A PERSON YOUR PRESIDENT?
From 1991-2012, four out of five Governors of Massachusetts are Republicans. It's not like the voters of MA are unwilling to vote for Republicans -- it's just that we know Mitt Romney.
