They dislike polls where the result is typical (Obama ahead by a comfortable or moderate margin). Media outlets want to shock the reader in order to pull him into the website.

All the MSM yacking is there to manufacture a reason to watch their shows.
If you look at Nate Silver's blog over time, it has been a fairly steady race, and that makes sense.
Most people believe what is real, not some manufactured version of reality...
