2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumA "rigged" primary election? No! Enough of the DELUSIONAL conspiracy theories.
Hillary has three million more popular votes and well over two hundred more PLEDGED delegates. (Forget the super delegates.) Those are the FACTS. That is the MATH. Nothing is "rigged," and Bernie himself knew very well going into the race that his candidacy was a long shot. Just go back and look at clips of how he responded to people on the trail early on. He was telling them this was a long process and nothing was certain.
The whole world is not rigged and corrupt. So enough of these completely delusional conspiracy theories. Leave that kind of nonsense to the Trump fans.

2) Delusional are those who party like it's 1999.

Or so I would summarise camp Clinton's reach-out campaign so far. But maybe I missed a few CAPS that really capture David Brock's perception of our side.

(1,182 posts)But the behavior in NV by Clinton's people was disgusting and did quite a lot of damage to Hillary.
Everything that delegitimizes individual elections also delegitimizes the winner of those elections, and there have been a hell of a lot of odd and flat-out bogus elections in this primary.
The races in NY and AZ have triggered investigations--not a conspiracy.
ID laws do suppress voters--not a conspiracy.
Voter registrations have been purged or switched across the US--not a conspiracy.
Polling placed have been eliminated and hours have been changed--not a conspiracy.
....
Shouting in all-caps doesn't make legitimate complaints about actual problems into conspiracy theory nonsense.

(10,164 posts)But "rigged" in terms of stacking the primary schedule, in terms of the shit-tier superdelegate system, in terms of the actions of the DNC, closing polling places, etc?
Yep.
And while I need (much) more proof to believe there has been actual cheating, given the many and disparate questionable occurrences so far in this primary, it's by no means a trip to tinfoil hat territory to have suspicions. Countless thousands of mysteriously-changed registrations, decertified results, the shenanigans in NV, far greater disparity between exit polls and official results on the Dem side than the Rep, and so forth...

(3,937 posts)All of the problems have been widely reported and some are before judges even now. To deny that is indeed delusion.

They can't be wrong. They just can't.
It has to be a conspiracy. There is no other explanation.

(11,366 posts)No. She doesn't have that many more votes. We really don't know the total vote count because many caucus states don't release the total raw vote. They only release the delegate count.
To your second point:
Math doesn't matter when you have a flawed candidate under a criminal investigation. If I was a Clinton supporter, I'd want the FBI to release their findings sooner rather than later. If it happens before the convention, she can bow out gracefully and take care of her legal troubles. If it happens after the Super Delegates push her over the required count and she's named the nominee, then she'll be responsible for the downfall of the Democratic Party for years.
You may still have your head in the sand about this investigation (Pro-Tip: the FBI isn't some partisan Congressional committee), but those of us who know a thing or two about handling sensitive data know what a sticky wicket she's in. The only way she walks out of this unscathed will be because of political interference and that won't look good at all during a general election.
Finally, when state after state purges voters, closes dozens of polling places and flips voter registrations from one party to another or unaffiliated, there is definitely something bad going on and legitimate lawsuits have been filed to investigate it. In fact, those who AREN'T recognizing that forces of some kind are trying to prevent people from voting are the delusional ones.
