2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumShould Bernie still endorse Hillary?
Oh sure, I realize that it's *technically* Hillary's surrogates who have been flinging poo in Sanders's face, and those of his supporters...while Hillary says totally believable (*heavy sarcasm*) things like, "I have no problem with him staying in the race", and floating suggestions that she could make the party platform an ode to Sanders's revolution (yeah right).
But, c'mon. We all know better that she (and Bill) are truly behind these insulting decisions to stock the convention committees with Sanders foes, forcibly rewrite the Nevada caucuses to a result more acceptable to the Clinton camp, allow DWS to speak her vitriol about independents being unworthy of voting in Democratic primaries (or was her hatred of independents who caucus with Dems in Congress? I forget)...ETC.
In light of this clear, "you lost, fuck you for running" attitude emerging....
...Should Bernie still endorse Hillary Clinton, and (separately) should he still encourage his supporters to enthusiastically support her?
I'm particularly interested in any "yes" answers that don't involve "President Donald Trump" scare tactics. Let's presume there's still something for Sanders supporters to vote *for* in the Democratic Party, and discuss what that might be.

I will accept, "to protect his position in DC" as an acceptable answer.

(28,876 posts)...the DNC is not going to nominate Bernie unless Hillary is removed as a candidate. It really doesn't matter if he manages to win the most pledged delegates or not. Nevada has shown us that they will mold the results of any election to benefit Hillary.
Agschmid
(28,749 posts)How does one mold the result to support the winner when they won?
Should we just override the people who caucused?
Barack_America
(28,876 posts)By removing delegates who showed up to caucus for Bernie.

(28,749 posts)The whole caucuse system is fucked.
But the drama abounding on this website over this issue is ludicrous.

(2,280 posts)And a pretty mild campaign at that. Bernie made some unfair attacks, and some of his supporters seem intent on helping Trump win, but despite all that it's really been a pretty civil campaign. A nasty campaign is what the GOP had.
Bernie's going to endorse Hillary. No doubt about it. He's not a conspiracy nut, and he understands the importance of beating Trump.
Barack_America

Like many many others, I have to work and couldn't afford to take the time off, or even get the OK. Vacation schedules are made out back at beginning of the year, and those weeks are booked way before the schedule gets to me.
I will watch the action on line (as I doubt the revolution will be televised).
Best of luck if you do go.
I will support any way I can from the arm chair!

This move by Sanders supporters to shout "Cheating!" at every loss seriously undermines their credibility.
I'm not saying there weren't irregularities, but I have YET to see even a shred of evidence that there was an orchestrated effort to actually cheat anywhere. This sounds a whole lot like the Climate deniers shouting CHEATING at climate scientists because of some data irregularities when the REAL reason is that they don't like the answer.

(8,267 posts)"What part don't you understand?"?!?
I don't have the time nor the inclination to explain to you how astonishing it is that so many "Democrats" support a disingenuous corporate shill who's under investigation by the FBI.
Good luck with that, and please don't complain if we end up with "Tiny-Hands" Trump.

(1,514 posts)and also ask his supporters to do the same. For the same reason that if the tables were turned, Hillary should/would endorse Bernie and ask her supporters to switch their support to him. That's the way it works, like it or not. Whether his supporters will do just that is another question. I, for one, can't force myself to vote for her, Trump or not. I'll be writing in Bernie's name on the GE ballot here in WA state because for me, it's the only conscionable thing to do.

I won't say it is Hillary's doing. But I have noted that she doesn't seem too fussed about any of the irregularities being brought to light. As the old saying goes, If you are winning, keep your mouth shut.
You will get your Hillary nomination, but you will not win the War.
You will not have enuf people voting in the general to have Hillary as president.
It is going to be very ugly.

The senator will do what he has to do... or wants to do; we who back his effort will do what we think best.

(14,004 posts)And he will. He'll endorse Clinton because he understands the absolute horrific danger of electing the pseudo-fascist Donald Trump to the highest office in our land. He understands the peril of Republicans possibly controlling all three branches of government. He understands that at least one Supreme Court space is open and more are likely to open up in the next few years and that a conservative court would return us to 1890's. Lastly, he understands that the only way to enact a truly progressive movement has to be done within the current party structure.
