Related: About this forumBarbara Boxer's daughter, Nicole Boxer, married Hillary Clinton's brother at White House cerremony.
How much did this impact Barbara Boxer's decision to endorse Hillary Clinton's nomination before she even announced her intention to
run for President? I don't know.
But it's hard for me to believe that this was not one of the factors that influenced her decision.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
From the New York Times:
Hillary Rodham Clinton's younger brother, Tony Rodham, and Nicole Boxer, the daughter of Senator Barbara Boxer, were married on Saturday in the first White House wedding in 23 years.
About 250 guests attended the 40-minute ceremony in the Rose Garden. Judge Peter Capua, a family friend from Miami, performed the wedding under a white canopy after remarks from a Methodist minister and a Jewish lay representative.
"Everyone was extremely happy," said Neel Lattimore, a spokesman for Mrs. Clinton. "There was applause at the end of the wedding and a lot of laughter." He described the President as "gleeful."
The Clintons' 14-year-old daughter, Chelsea, was a bridesmaid. After the ceremony, guests retired to the First Lady's garden. A buffet dinner was served in the State Dining Room, and dancing was held in the East Room.
Ms. Boxer, a 26-year-old film company executive from Marin, Calif., said in one prenuptial interview that she was "excited to have the kind of party my friends will remember." She added, "How often do you get to have friends at the White House?" Her mother, a Democrat, represents California in the Senate.
Mr. Rodham, 39, is a regional director in Los Angeles for the Democratic National Committee.
The event was closed to reporters.

(146,317 posts)and family. Weddings are private events. Why should a family wedding not be held at the White House? What objection could there possibly be to that?

(8,791 posts)Bernie should've looked into it during all these years he's spent in Congress. Maybe he'd have a superdelgate or two to show for it.

(113,065 posts)change it. So far it appears from your posts here that you find much common ground with the GOP standard of It's OK If You're A Republican. Democrats are not allowed the amenities of the WH and presidency without censure and constant whining from RW propaganda machine.

(561 posts)Kevin Keegan. Nicole Boxer's award winning documentary "The Invisible War" is about sexual assault in the military. She is a noted filmmaker as well. She has been divorced for over 15 years from Rodham. She is much like her mother politically, liberal, and very pro women's rights. So no, I don't see how it is.

(7,321 posts)That explains everything.
Among a number of issues that came up years ago, this explains why Barbara Boxer, a sitting U.S. Senator from California, was even involved with the Nevada Caucus debacle yesterday..
It's All in the Family. How quaint.

(1,217 posts)Unlike Diane Feinstein who is a conservative democrat, I have always liked and appreciated Barbara Boxer.
And I would imagine from her voting record, she's probably pretty close to Bernie philosophically.
But everyone has blind spots, especially where family is involved. Boxer could obviously have handled this a LOT better, given the situation. She's not running for her senate seat this time. Is she hoping to take a position in Hillary's white house?
The problem with Boxer, Pelosi and Feinstein (all women, all from California, all high-ranking democrats) is that they are all very wealthy and maybe haven't felt the true mood of the country. They have either already endorsed or will endorse Hillary.
I think being a long-serving politician (Republican or Democrat) pretty much makes you part of the establishment at this point.

The peope ole Bernster has worked with for the last 40 years.. Meh, not so much.
Really, his own fellow Senator from Vermont - endorses Clinton.
3x of Vermonts governors - Clinton.
I think the real question here isn't why Clinton IS getting them. The real question is why Bernie isn't.. Especially those who should be in his boat if he was worth his salt.
