2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumIf Bernie is such a strong candidate
why has he lost the Democratic Primary race for the nomination?
Why do people think the system and votes cast ought to be thwarted for a loser? A sore one at that?
He lost, I wish he would get over himself, really.

(1,473 posts)escapes them. Numbers and all that.
Or maybe they really think death threats and threatening to cut out peoples tongues and yelling "fuck you bitch!" at party leaders and super delegates at the convention is the way to get them to flip over to Berni's camp?

A microcosm of the state of this campaign - he's reached the point of alienating his supporters.

If she survives the fight against Bernie she will struggle against and even stronger candidate in Trump in the general election. Hillary Clinton is weak on foreign policy which is also Trumps weakness. Only advantage Hillary Clinton has she can say she has been an DC bubble insider for a long time.

(26,060 posts)It's Bernie and his supporters that wont accept that reality. He can't catch up. You KNOW he can't win CA with 80% of the vote and yet you wont face reality and instead put the onus on Secy Clinton. It's why Bernie is pissing off more people every single day.

(30,481 posts)Clinton is a leader and has built an extremely strong coalition contributing to her solid campaign.
I think it would be interesting to replace Kucinich with Sanders this year. The dynamics are different this year from past years he ran. I think he would have done as well if not better than Sanders.

(1,536 posts)Neither candidate has reached the required number of pledged delegates to reach the nomination.
Until that happens, no one has 'won' or lost.
The process is really a simple one. If one candidate reaches the required number of delegates, they become the party's nominee. If neither party reaches that number, then it goes to the convention. That's how it works.
For a bunch of people who scream about other people not seeing the obvious, they seem not to be able to understand this simple concept.
It's NOT over yet.

(45,319 posts)What she's actually doing is losing Oregon a second time, this time with even fewer votes than she got in 2008. She lost support here over the last 8 years and that's always the mark of a candidate on the rise, dwindling support and repeated losses.
Of course Hillary did not even bother to show up in Oregon, not once since the 08 Primary when she and her family were here constantly. She is openly opposed to legislation the people here created and which works very well indeed. She loves Ronald Reagan, she pushes revisionist history of AIDS. That stuff appeals to a certain crowd but that crowd is in short supply here.

(45,319 posts)Any candidate who has won will happily and freely say so. Hillary has shown us she can speak freely, she was eager to share her AIDS revisionism and outlandish adoration she has for Ronald Reagan. Hard to believe 'class' has anything to do with such a person. She mocked the deaths of tens of thousands of Americans, shat on their memories and did this all with made up, improvised lies. How is that 'classy'? It's not. It's ignorant right wing bullshit.
So a person who has the stones to push that level of propaganda would have no problem accepting any prize they'd won. That's obvious. That level of shamelessness has no bottom.
