2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumMaybe Bernie's causing all the ruckus because Trump is stealing his thunder.
It used to be that the GOP was fighting with itself, and Hillary vs Bernie was an actual contest, and so people cared about what Bernie said, but now Trump is the GOP nominee, he and Hillary are going after each other, and Bernie's like a third wheel. He likes all the attention, and not getting it, so he starts issuing outrageous press releases with conspiratorial allegations so that people will cover him again.

(114,904 posts)Like a certain orange candidate, you don't mind embarrassing yourself.
I'd suggest actually informing yourselves of before spouting your nonsense, but it would fall on deaf ears.

(2,280 posts)He's got to be loving it, guy like Bernie, pretty obscure his whole life, now he's all over national TV and everywhere he goes thousands of people are screaming his name. It's just a human thing, liking the spotlight, and it's going to be over pretty soon for him. Why not drum up some controversial press release to get people talking about him just a few more times?
cali
(114,904 posts)he wasn't. He was widely known and admired by progressives coast to coast, in part because of Breakfast with Bernie and in part because a use of his epic filibuster of Bush tax cuts.
You desperately need to inform yourself.

(2,280 posts)He's been front page for months, and even he said he's been surprised by how much enthusiasm he's gotten and by all the big crowds. How many people heard of him a year ago? A lot in number, but now he's reaching a lot more people who weren't really into politics before.

Winning strategy there.

(2,280 posts)rioting at the convention is OK, and I don't think that the conspiratorial allegations against the Democratic Party are OK either, like I said I think he's doing it at least in part because he misses the spotlight.

(2,888 posts)This man has never once wavered in his principles through his entire adult life and 40 years of public service.
He has taken positions that were demonized by the right and now centrists from the Democratic party too.
Yeah,a real attention driven person he has been.
YouDig
(2,280 posts)He's a politician, he's wavered plenty, in terms of fact-checking he's done worse than Hillary. He's a good guy, sure, or at least used to be, but he's also a human.

(2,888 posts)Sorry that the reality of things doesnt match your bitter accusations.

(2,280 posts)I don't think anyone should be elevated to the deity level that you seem to have for Sanders, he's a human politician.

(2,280 posts)That's absurd to say of anyone. One giant waver is going from calling the Democratic Party corrupt and that he would be a hypocrite to run as a Democrat to doing just that. Pretty big waver.

(114,904 posts)You really are revealing a lot about yourself. You are projecting. Bernie is thrilled that his issues are in the spotlight. That doesn't translate automatically to your interpretation. And it's not like he will suddenly go radio silent or no longer be a force.
YouDig
(2,280 posts)fans does he get? Not many. Even if he does big events after the primary, it won't have the same energy. This campaign has been his time to shine, and it's drawing to a close.
cali
(114,904 posts)He has a following of millions. And he says in every speech that this is about more than the election- and not merely about him. You seem to think that all he cares about is the attention. That is not the case. I know my Senator.
Your Hillary support lens is distorted.
YouDig
(2,280 posts)tens of thousands of cheering fans events after this is over. He's right in the thick of it, the whole country is watching him. A bird lands on his podium and it goes viral instantly.
You can see that he loves it, and why wouldn't he? You'd have to not be human to not get a kick out of it.
cali
(114,904 posts)And that is obvious from your flamebait crud.
We are done. Bye bye.

(1,220 posts)in OR as he had hoped. All of a sudden he is loudly attacking the DNC, and threatening to go after "Mrs. Clinton" personally. He is totally pulling a Trump. Can't stand to be out of the spotlight.
BTW...I'm planning to buy a pair of designer shoes with the money I'm getting from this post, how about you?
