Bad judgment versus intentional heartlessness.

Last edited Sat May 21, 2016, 01:06 PM - Edit history (3)

Listening to the latest anti Clinton ad that is running and nickname (Heartless Hillary), I think the GOP is going for the latter.

Will it be effective? Well after going around and seeing what devastation the bad trade policies had wrought during her 2008 campaign, Clinton just doubled down by pushing the trade agreement she previously said she wouldn't (as documented in the email) and by pushing the TPP.

She is also on video in a foreign country talking up the replacement of American workers with foreigners through those "hand over your jobs to foreign workers" visas she is so fond of pushing (even though many American students have taken on a big load of debt to earn their college degree). On the other hand, the GOP has footage of the guy who lost his IT job to foreign workers (like Disney doesn't make enough money) crying.

Hmm... have you figured out yet that it isn't just the blue collar workers you have to worry about? I've always thought when the white collar workers started getting screwed as much as the blue collar workers it would create the perfect political storm.

I'm not one of those super smart, ivy league educated political consultants working for the Clinton machine, but I think I'd give the edge to the GOP on this one.

Oh, and by the way, you can't blame this on Bernie.

Again, I bow down to the genius of the Democratic Establishment (otherwise known as the the "la, la, la, la I can not see this, I live by the rule, ignorance is bliss because in our world everything is rosy" brigade).

Maybe Ms. Clinton's Cheerleader, tear down and lie about the one honest guy in the race, corporate hack should take up meditation. I have a feeling she might need it in the upcoming months. Of course her corporate bosses can always run another promo for her show telling her how wonderful she is.

6. Do you think for one second the GOP is going to cut back on skilled worker visas?

If you do, I have a bridge to sell you.

The difference is how far from their words, their actions will be. Trump and his cronies are con men. They lie 95% of the time. Clinton (and Sanders mind you) are politicians. They only lie about 25 - 30% of the time. You can't trust everything a politician says but you can trust 100% that a con man is lying to you.

No way will Trump and his buddies do anything that hurts their companies' bottom lines.

I'm one of those IT workers and I despair of the rampant ignorance within the Democratic Party (and not just the politicians, a lot of the voters) about the differences between skilled worker visas and other immigration questions. But I'm not going to abandon all my other values for the patently ridiculous notion that the GOP might somehow act better on this one issue. All we can do is keep trying to educate, and realize that almost no one actually gives a shit about us. At least the Dem Party gives a shit about a lot of other people.

8. The GOP (Including Trump) has NO moral edge over Hillary in these matters.

Still, you are right that the GOP has scored with this ad. Many people are unaware of the veiled threats/hidden bribery used by the ultra-rich right-wing to ram through legislation favorable to their profit margins. Capitalism is a powerful engine of economic progress, but these guys do need regulation, and they tend to be very inventive in finding ways to do whatever they want anyway. The fact that the GOP uses a crying IT worker in this ad shows that they know they have created an advantage in this area, and they will exploit it. However, the Democratic Party can still win in a landslide if we stand up to them. The neo-liberal Democrats have fallen for a number of lies from the GOP concerning the fictitious shortages of qualified Americans in various fields. They need to stop enabling these GOP plans to import bunches of foreign workers they can get away with mistreating, in order to dump qualified Americans out of the skilled jobs they have worked so hard for (with massive debts that have been arbitrarily declared immune to bankruptcy proceedings).

Which one will voters choose? Which one should progressives choose?

Hmm, that must be a really difficult choice.

And if you don't know which one is which, then you have questionable judgment.
