When the economy crashed back in 2008, millions of families—disproportionately black and Latino families—lost their homes, their jobs, and their savings. And shortly before, when talking about the possibility of a housing market crash, Donald Trump said "I sort of hope that happens"—because he could make money off of it. How cruel do you have to be to actually root for a crisis that would devastate millions of families, all to pad your own pockets?

This wasn't an anomaly for Trump. His economic plan helps the extremely wealthy and hurts middle-class families. He'd roll back financial regulations and let Wall Street run wild again. Trump prioritizing his own gain over Americans' well-being isn't new, but it is telling: The only person he'll fight for is himself.

We’re not going to let Trump bankrupt America like he bankrupted his companies. We’re not going to let him wreck our economy and devastate working families. We’re going to protect and build on President Obama's financial reforms to make sure Wall Street can never again threaten Main Street. Trump has proven he'll sell out anyone to make a buck. We need to make sure he never gets the chance.
