The only negative is that SBS goes at Trump first. Aren't we past this whole ego thing?
Let SBS take a crack at him, this will expose his positions and can be used to contrast future Trump responses.
Who better, besides Elizabeth Warren, to first expose Trump--since it shields HRC from the first encounter with the RWNJ.

The whole fair reporting thing, which is bullshit, says that both views of a subject must be reported on.
FOX is constantly used as the counter to other news media, and while they only get 3M viewers, their reporting hits hundreds of newspapers and dozens of channels, since they are always the opposite viewpoint to conventional thought.
DWS, Obama, SBS and almost every other Democrat politician appears on FOX, just not HRC.
There was an article a few weeks back stating that HRC doesn't appear on there, because of spite for how they treat her. Well, they treat almost every Democrat the same way. She is the one who is imposing the moratorium on appearing on FOX--no one else.

He's been on FOX before, so has Obama and almost every other Democrat, except for HRC.
Now, HRC can not turtle in her shell towards FOX, she must embrace the FOX Bull(shit) by the horns.

(53,778 posts)If they were neck and neck, sure, but that's past.
It's smart to decline a debate and spend the time needed to prepare for a debate on battling Trump, and Sanders, now that he is in the last days of his campaign.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)... when she feels it's no longer in her interest to keep it. Have to say I agree with you.
brush
(53,778 posts)Like Bernie just jumped on the Trump debate proposal because he thought it would help his chances.
Unfortunately Trump pulled a "Lucy" and jerked the football away.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)... which is that Hillary can go back on her word when she feels like it. Regardless of your opinion of politics being rough, one can take away, again, that Hillary is a liar.
Your characterization of the Trump/Bernie debate is also wrong. Bernie only said he would do it, not implying that his entire life rested on it. Had Bernie said no, you would be all over that saying Bernie was a wimp - all while ignoring that Hillary wimped out on the debate too. The end result is that both Hillary and Trump p***ed out on the debate, in spite of all their bravado.
brush
(53,778 posts)it's primary process. My party's nominee should be the one to debate the Republican Party's nominee.
I intend to be the nominee so I will debate Mr. Trump at a later date."
That would have gotten him huge points, even with Hillary supporters who have been criticizing him for his continual attacks on the party.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)Camp Hillary would be calling him a wimp.
And you see it as "continual attacks on the party," meaning you have a certain deference to the party even when it's doing bad things (which I doubt you can even acknowledge, again due to that deference to the noble's thing). For the rest of us who aren't starry-eyed about them, we want the party to change away from the proscribed, contrived process that they've forced on us for decades. Elections are a joke.
brush
(53,778 posts)at least publicly. That's damaging to the brand he asked to join so he could get the national recognition he would never have gotten as a little known independent socialist from a small state.
Work behind the scenes to change the party, win the nomination and then really make the changes, but continuously blasting the party publicly seems so unappreciative.
I mean he asked to join. If it was so bad, why join?
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)He's registered as a democrat. Now there's this idea that he should put up a token campaign but let Hillary have it, get in line for later. Screw that! We've had decades of that kind of seniority-driven crap and gotten screwed. You should be angry at the democratic party for being so screwed up.
This is the real difference: a lot of people supporting Bernie actually are progressive in that we don't defer to the "old-guard" Democrats (tm) who are more interested in preserving their positions and power than fixing the country. And make no mistake, there are things that need to be fixed, and the old guard will not do it.
brush
(53,778 posts)Not the party, the brand he asked to join and was invited in.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)In what way is he "going after" the party? And are you saying the party can't handle being gone after? I absolutely think that everybody should "go after" the party when they so totally screw up. By "screw up" I mean that the house, senate, and governorships have been increasingly lost. My belief is that this is because the top party people are far more interested in their positions than winning and doing good for the country. I refuse to blindly "believe in" the party and not criticize them.
brush
(53,778 posts)I don't. Why voters could actually get the idea that the party is bad so they turn to the repugs or maybe a third party.
Why risk doing that publcly when that fight can be fought behind the scenes?
By all means go after your opponent though. That's what the campaign it about, to make voters think you're the better candidate, not that your party is shit.
mindwalker_i
(4,407 posts)... like, say, not criticizing Obama for increasing the domestic spying or drone use, or not criticizing the party for having a crapphy platform, then our arguments against republicans fall flat. Basically, if one can't criticize themself then theey have no business criticizing others.

But now, when Sanders does exactly what they praised Warren for doing - engaging Trump in Hillarys stead - it becomes a bad thing.

it was a REALLY stupid move. It was almost as if he said to Trump: *Let's just ignore that woman and go about this business ourselves*
He alienated, at the very least, half of the Democratic party and he made it clear that he doesn't care about the Democratic party or its rules.

Worst case scenario: Trump wins decisively. So what? Hillary can just say "So Trump beat the JV team, big deal. Bernie's the runner-up for a reason. Don't worry, I'll do better."
Unless for some explicable reason you expect Bernie to basically commit treason and turn the whole thing into a "Let's us both bash Hillary for a couple hours" fest. I'm supremely confident that _won't_ be the case.
