Benghazi cover-up allegations: does anyone know what that is all about?

I keep seeing references to a Benghazi cover-up conspiracy, nothing about what it actually is. I Googled it, but all the "sources" on it seem to be from Murdock propaganda outlets (Fox, WSJ, Foxperts using other media forums) or other RW websites.

I guess O. was supposed to call in an airstrike against a heavily populated city in a country that was not our enemy--oh, yeah, and possibly kill the same people it was supposed to save.

because Faux is driving it.

They almost ALWAYS are allowed to drive the debate, and it is really frustrating to them that they can't force the rest of the media half wits to follow them down this rat hole.

The attack itself was over before D.C. had a clear idea of what was going on, or how to respond.

To suggest the President just sat back and let them die is despicable.

Benghazi, in order to give himself political cover on how quick and on-the-spot his reaction to the crisis was and so that they could then have accused him of treason for revealing, a la Dick Cheney outing Valerie Plame, secret intelligence operations.

It's all about revenge for Democratic lack of respect for Shrub/Cheney by supposedly revealing Democratic hypocrisy on the matter of outing intelligence operatives, which Darrel Issa did anyway in re Benghazi a couple of weeks BEFORE comment on the fact finally came from the Obama administration because Issa had already given it to the media.

they are desperately trying to come up with something to compare him with President Carter.
but there's nothing. NOTHING.

I expect some republicans to actually switch parties within the next four years due to
how squeaky clean our President is. They can't keep lying for the next four years and
expect to keep fooling their base. It won't work this time.

The GOP is setting the stage they will use to impeach Obama in the next year or two. Totally spurious charges but it will be an imperative if they hold the majority in the House, it will happen on a strictly partisan basis.

Most of the contraversy the right wing and fox keep on attacking Obama for are lies.

For example, claiming Obama waited a week to call it a terrorist attack, even though the terrorists took credit for it on Facebook the next day, which must show how incompetent Obama and his people are? Not true, the terrorists posted that they APPROVED (or LIKED would be a better word) the attack. They DID NOT claim credit for it.

One of my friends was in the army like 30 years ago and he can tell me what special forces are capable of! Why don't I turn off MSNBC and read the cable feeds? So, he's guessing. He also doesn't seem to get that the USA cannot simply send the Marines into a another country, especially if it is already friendly to the USA. Everything on-line that references this that I can find is either written by a Murdock servant or a fringe website like Breitbart.

I channel flipped to Fox and the "judge" was on with two military "experts" who were faulting the administration for not calling in a A-10 Thunderbolt that was at an airbase across the Mediterranean. What could a warplane have done? Blow up everyone within a hundred yards? I could only shake my head.

Seriously, make them back up their assertions. Make them admit that they heard it on Fox, and that's their only reason for believing it. Or that they read someone else's Facebook post - and don't them get away with literally saying "someone else" - make them name them, and then say "so what makes you think 'Don Martin' knows what went on - did you ask them if they got it from anywhere else than Fox?"

There's little point in us here on DU making up possible places where these people heard or read it. Ask them.

who placed the subtitles on that stupid b-grade movie short youtube and emailed it to that main internet Imon?

That was a week before 9-11 date and that internet holyman was the one person who called for protests at all usa embassies.

Really sounds like someone just wanted to stur up trouble right before that date or even provided 'cover' for a planned attack.

No matter the official Gov of Lybia arrested couple dozen of the local attackers within 2 days. With the USA team help, they arrested a couple more recently in Eqypt?

Still we need to go back to that film and reveal exactly who sub-titled that, posted it on youtube and directed the internet loudmouth Holyman. That person needs to be arrested.

The Repubs I have heard discussing Libya are trying to complete dismiss any influence from this this inflammatory video despite the fact that all of the news media initially linked all of the protests and even the Libya attack to the video. Instead Repubs want to completely pin all the blame on the Obama Administration even though analysts studying the matter do see some sort of influence from the video.

It seems that because Repubs refuse to give any credence to notion of the video having any influence, nothing is being mentioned about who, what, why the video was released. Were certain parties trying to incite such an attack that could be used to undermine Obama's perceived success with foreign policy and fighting terrorism before the election? We do know that Romney made it clear he was going to take political advantage of any kind of international incident in the way that Reagan took advantage of the Iran hostage crisis during Carter's term, and he certainly jumped in to politicize the protests even before the events had completely unfolded.
