They have a strong emotional attachment to the candidate, akin to believing in a deity. Admitting faults in that deity is simply not possible.

Yes, there is a difference. But every SOS has flouted the rules and so did Clinton so there is that equivalency. And the voters -smarter than I gave them credit for- can see that.

We can speculate all year long but it won't give us anything. If you mean, why are the voters voting for Clinton over Sanders, I guess it's because (and this is pure speculation on my part) that they don't think Sanders can follow through. The guy has fewer endorsements than Ted Cruz. When your own co-workers won't endorse you, that might be a sign that you're not going to win over the electorate.
