Democratic Senators are unloading on Bernie Sanders for a courting a debate with Donald Trump.

Politico rounded up some reactions to Senate Democrats over the Sanders vs. Trump debate dance:

“Bullshit,” said Sen. Joe Manchin of West Virginia. “That confirms what we’ve been saying. Why would you expect Bernie should be considerate or be nice or be working to bring everyone together? Why? He’s not a Democrat.”

The party’s frustrations are boiling over with Sanders as the primary season winds down: Namely that Sanders seems unwilling or unable to admit that Hillary Clinton is on course for the nomination. The ire toward Sanders began earlier this year among the loudest Democratic cheerleaders for Clinton — and now it’s seeping into nearly the entire Senate Democratic caucus.

….

“I don’t know why he would do that. I think it’s time to start to winding down the primary,” said Sen. Gary Peters (D-Mich.). “It’s time to move on.”

“It’s peculiar,” said Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio). “It’s all about Bernie trying to get the advantage in California. It’s not going to work.”

Senators prize committee assignments and the chair when their party is in the majority. The Democratic party treated Sanders as if he was an actual party member, acknowledging his seniority when he agreed to caucus with them and giving him committee assignments as warranted.

If he actively subverts the party's White House bid, he can kiss the Budget and VA seats goodbye, and say hello to the Subcommittee on Tourism, if he's lucky.

Oh, and, she IS a liar, and she's made numerous mistakes, which some are crass enough to call "fuck-ups."

Hahahaha. Considerate of whom or what? Ultimately, of course, considerate of the well worked out relationship between elected representatives in Washington D.C. and the banks and corporations. It's just too ridiculous but who could expect them to say anything other than what they're saying here? It's pretty funny to read that Sherrod Brown is kvetching about "Bernie trying to get the advantage in California" after his preferred candidate just broke her commitment to debate Bernie there. Damn that Bernie Sanders for trying to turn the sow's ear we gave him into a silk purse!

become a bad thing? neither of these two seem to be beholden to the party structure, which is why everyone is pissed off. the upstarts are taking the show out of the hands of the important few.

HRC went back on her word about the final debate after she got what she wanted. sometimes decisions have consequences. a true leader would have no problem going in front of the people he/she wants votes from to show why they should vote for them. they wouldn't cower in a bunker just because they had the lead.

trump will almost certainly back out anyway, which looks bad for him. if he doesn't, BS will destroy him. either way it's a win for the dem party.

This way- one can only hope- the debate can cut into those Sanders supporters who are building up an image of Trump as in any way a second option. Perhaps he can bury that. If he can't at this moment exactly reconcile with the party's march to Clinton he can possibly thwart a really stupid flow of votes toward the path of certain destruction. In that he would doing her a great favor while exposing Trump to a better dose of toxic reality than he ever had from the clown car debates.

If he fails of course that could be to Hillary's advantage as well. Some of the people's frustrations will get to be played out and settled.
