The Des Moines Register Puts The Final Nail In The Casket Of The Romney Campaign

infernoman wrote on Nov 04, 2012 00:09:05 #
Des Moines (IA) Register, which endorsed Romney last week, puts out their final IA poll: Obama +5.

Sam Stein ?@samsteinhp
“ RT @paulwestdc: Final 2012 DSM Register poll by Ann Selzer, who really knows Iowa, has Obama up by 5, 47-42 over Romney. That's big.”

5. I love how some DUers try to impugn the motives of fellow DUers ...

When they simply ask questions about things like 'endorsements' and their impacts ... Can't we ask questions about stuff ? ...

Too bad you couldn't stop everybody from being so foolish ....

11. It got some good discussion and revelations. It was the crazyness of the endorsement

itself that was so weird. Praising PBO and endorsing the mitt. Turns out by more than a few accounts that the Paper wanted to endorse Obama but the publisher Gannet ordered otherwise.

When Sandy came ashore and took all the oxygen out of the Romney juggernaut of lies ....

When the polls were breaking AWAY from Romney as President Obama had to be President and turn away from the nonsense of the crazy season .... He did so quite admirably ... Even our opponents agree ....

Those facts, resulted in a loss of time as Sandy ran out the clock on any chance to 'turn it around' ...

It takes time to stop large trends, and there is no way Romney can convince the already committed voters to see the President as beneath the dignity of the office when he is actually standing 'ramrod straight' (As Axelrod might say), and proves he is an excellent President ...

Romney was done when Sandy hit the shore .... Games over ...

exactly what you described so eloquently, Trajan.. but, it is so.

teabaggers are always blaming liberals for natural disasters..and now I hear rove is putting out some kind of propaganda about the storm slowing their momentum.. he may be right. mittcamp had to buy $5,000 worth of canned goods to photo op instead of just the usual Lies. And, The Jeep Lie did not go over well..you know that when the VP of Design at Chrysler tweets you that "you're full of shit".

16. This is what Ann ROmney was reacting to earlier

when she was described as "emotional". She realized that in spite of the newspaper endorsement, the state was solid Blue and Mitt will never be President of these United States. It kind of feels gratifying to know that the man's money--millions no a billion dollars STILL cannot buy an election. That is what makes this nation great--that we have a free election not co-opted by the media drone.

19. What's odd is that they actually have Obama down 2 points & Romney down 3 points from last time

But that actually works out to a (+1) increase for Obama. Last time Obama was (+4) - 49 vs. 45, and now Obama is (+5) - 47 vs. 42.

In any event, the trendline in Iowa has certainly seemed favorable to Obama, and it doesn't look like the Des Moines Register endorsement has helped Romney.

It also shouldn't hurt that Obama will be wrapping up his campaign with a final appearance in Iowa on Monday night.
