Frank is not amused http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-dem-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/05/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-convention-allies-223685

Frank brushed off the Sanders camp's charges.

"It is inconceivable to me that anything could come before that committee that will affect who the nominee is," Frank said. "I think what you have here is this: Sanders is losing to Hillary Clinton because she is getting many more votes and many more pledged delegates. Some of the Sanders supporters are trying to lay the claim that he's being unfairly deprived of this."

Asked what he thought Sanders' endgame goal was, Frank said it might be to suggest he was robbed of the nomination.

"I hope it is not to lay the basis for an inaccurate claim that he was unfairly denied the nomination and I do see some elements of this," Frank said. "We really had two nomination contests this year. Bernie Sanders is the nominee of the caucuses; Hillary Clinton is the nominee of the primaries, which are more Democratic."

I love the DNC's response to this rather lame and silly challenge http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-dem-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/05/bernie-sanders-hillary-clinton-convention-allies-223685

Roosevelt and Miller responded Saturday in a letter to the Sanders campaign. The co-chairs of the Rules and Bylaws Committee said Malloy and Frank hadn't violated any rule of the DNC.

"Both Governor Malloy and Representative Frank were elected by the Executive Committee of the Democratic National Committee on January 22, 2016, pursuant to the Call for the 2016 Democratic National Convention, Article VII(F)(I)(the "Call&quot ," the chairs wrote in response. "Your challenge does not allege that there was any other cognizable violation of the Call in the conduct of their elections, the Delegate Selection Rules for the 2016 Democratic National Convention, or any other rule or regulation of the Democratic National Committee in their selection."

This petty and stupid challenge has been rejected http://bigstory.ap.org/article/a9a368ce98164309aa0a3f4cd74ad6c8/sanders-fails-oust-clinton-backers-convention-roles

Democratic officials have rejected Bernie Sanders' request to remove two high-profile Hillary Clinton supporters from leadership positions at the party's summer convention.

Sanders' presidential campaign said in a letter Friday to the Democratic National Committee that Dannel Malloy, Connecticut's governor, and Barney Frank, a former Massachusetts congressman, couldn't be relied upon to perform their roles "fairly and capably while laboring under such deeply held bias."

Malloy is Platform Committee co-chairman. Frank is co-chairman of the Rules Committee.

Democratic officials responded to Sanders' request on Saturday, saying in a letter that Malloy and Frank were elected under party rules and that Sanders wasn't alleging any violations of that process.

Maybe I don't understand what the Platform committee does, but I assume it does what it sounds like it does.

So I don't see how it affects Sanders, who will not be the nominee, that someone who supports the nominee, is on the Platform committee.

As to Frank, I had always thought Barney Frank was a hero to DUers. I had no idea of the history of animosity between him and Sanders. But anyway, if these guys were both duly elected by prior rules then I don't see how Sanders has a case.

I've always really like Bernie Sanders. I hope after the dust settles his reputation is not tarnished by the twists and distortions of this campaign (mostly not of his doing). We need him and his voice.
