(10,893 posts)Nobody has to vote, but if you're eligible, why not spend a few minutes casting a ballot? By not voting, you really don't have anything to gain, and other people will vote and decide the election in your place. I checked, and turnout average is only around 50-60% for presidential elections, while it was about 40% for 2010 specifically. I really wish there was something Democrats could do to motivate even more people to turn out, especially for midterm elections.

(15,185 posts)It's our basic duty as citizens of a democracy. For decades millions were disenfranchised in our country, refused this right due to their race or gender.
We see, even today, throughout the world that people are fighting for this right.
We should not take it for granted.

(10 posts)You may not like it but that is what they choose to do and that is what it means to be free.
People have the right and freedom to vote or not vote.
I do not agree with it and I think that it is foolish to not vote but I am also not going to tell someone else how to run their life either.
