Miami Dade Stops Early Voting

BREAKING NEWS as of 2:10 PM. Miami Dade SOE has stopped the previously announced Early voting hours they set for today from 1 - 5 pm. Our voting protection attorneys are monitoring this closely and will report back. Please let your networks know. This is UNACCEPTABLE.

The SOE has locked the doors and is not allowing anyone in to vote!

The forces of power in the state and county have joined together to try to stop our right to vote. Go out to the polls in masse on Tuesday and send a message to our Governor and Mayor that is not how democracy works. THESE PEOPLE ARE DOING ANY AND EVERYTHING POSSIBLE TO MAKE SURE THE YOUTH, AFRICAN AMERICANS, AND HISPANICS DON'T GET A FAIR OPPORTUNITY TO VOTE AND CHANGE THIS ELECTION.. PLEASE STAY TUNE AND THANKS FOR EVERYONE WHO DID ANYTHING ON THE VOLUNTEER FRONT.. WE ARE NOT JUST A SILENT VOICE.. BUT HAVE TH POWER TO MAKE THIS COUNTRY MOVE FORWARD.

....I got this info from young democrat leaders at my university- supposedly people are chanting outside the office "let us vote, let us vote"

What a shame that we go around the world proclaiming that everyone should have their voice heard yet in our own country voting has become such a hassle

How about a link that verifies your claim that it isn't happening? Otherwise, I'm going to believe a respectable source over your Internet claim.

With due respect to the good people who live there. Arizona sucks BIG TIME but even they don't pull the shit Florida does with elections.

At Sun Nov 4, 2012, 02:54 PM an alert was sent on the following post:

Miami Dade Stops Early Voting
http://www.democraticunderground.com/1251210323

REASON FOR ALERT:

This post is disruptive, hurtful, rude, insensitive, over-the-top, or otherwise inappropriate. (See Community Standards.)

ALERTER'S COMMENTS:

The OP makes a claim with nothing to back it up that early voting previously announced has been closed. Without something to back this up it can only be concluded that the OP is attempting to drive down early voting in Miami/Dade.

You served on a randomly-selected Jury of DU members which reviewed this post. The review was completed at Sun Nov 4, 2012, 02:58 PM, and the Jury voted 1-5 to LEAVE IT.

Juror #1 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #2 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: Tough one. I think the OP should be challenged to provide evidence -- hide/lock if needed at that point. Check person's posting history -- ban if necessary.
Juror #3 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: I'd love to know who this alerter was.
Juror #4 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: No explanation given
Juror #5 voted to LEAVE IT ALONE and said: a link was added in another post in the thread
Juror #6 voted to HIDE IT and said: No linked source for what is supposed to be a news story.

Thank you very much for participating in our Jury system, and we hope you will be able to participate again in the future.

Look at all my past posts- I am a 100% supporter of democratic party and President Obama- and I've never posted any nonsense...all these people who think at my troll should see that I've posted about going to his rallies

I have volunteered in Miami region for the last 5 months.....I even said that I got this info from the President of our Young College Democrats Club at University of Miami......don't just assume that I'm a troll because of my low post count- I only found this site a few months ago

last line says it all. What blatant, extreme hypocrisy! And don't worry about your post. People are very worried and nervous, my stomach is churning a bit, at the underhanded voter suppression tactics being used by rthugs this election cycle. Thanks for the news, it has been verified and I'm not surprised. You're okay with me. People do need to have information like this. Thanks.

Overwhelmed by the hundreds of voters who showed up to cast an absentee ballot, Miami-Dade, Fla., election officials closed their doors to voters early today, only to re-open them about an hour later.

27. I voted at the Pompano Beach City Hall...
Sun Nov 4, 2012, 06:31 PM
Nov 2012

on Wednesday. There was a line, but it moved fairly quickly. Most of the wait was when they had to empty the scanner machine because it was too full.

I thought my vote might be a bit more secure voting there. Oh, stupid me. Now I see they are dropping totals. You can't help wonder if your vote was one of those that got dropped.

Also, and I'm not 100% sure of this, but I think the only time they have to keep the polls open for people in line is on the actual voting day. In this case November 6th. If someone has already addressed that, sorry. I did hear on the TV that there were many lines at closing time yesterday. I didn't even know about the 1pm to 5pm vote today.

I was a wreck waiting to vote. Tried a couple times earlier in the week. The two places I tried were so busy and lines so long, you couldn't find a parking place. Thought City Hall would be a easier and by Wednesday it was. That's if they stop dropping the voting totals.

My voting precinct is a few yards away from me across a parking lot to the Clubhouse. For some reason, I did not want to vote there this time.

Hey, it's Florida. All you can do is get out there and vote and hope for the best. If Romney wins this state, and I feel that he legitimately won with more votes the way it's supposed to be, I would still be upset, but not nearly as upset if I feel he has won by scum sucking thievery.
