Willie Nelson Supports Obama While Country Colleagues Rally for Romney

While most country stars are keeping mum about tomorrow's (Nov. 6) election, there are a few voicing their opinions. When it comes to country music and politics, though, it appears the few stars who are sharing their voices are doing so for the right, with the exception of Willie Nelson.

"I'm one of the undecided," he told CNN on Thursday (Nov. 1) before acknowledging his wife's protests to his comment. "She's an Obama gal," he said, gesturing towards his better half, Annie Nelson, who interjected, "He has a wife -- and four daughters -- he's an Obama guy."

"For the women, I think Obama is the guy," the music icon then conceded. "I really think [women's health care] is a big issue, and that's the one that I think Obama is on the right side of history. I think that will have a big influence on the election. I'll probably vote for him."

Willie, Kris Kristofferson, Robert Earl Keen, etc. Most pop country singers either keep quiet for go right just to keep their base happy.

unless they are very very entrenched like Tim McGraw, who is allowed to be liberal because of all the money he and Faith HIll have made for the industry. If you're not one of the chosen few, you cannot come out and be outwardly liberal, even if you are. It's career suicide in that stupid industry. Trust me, most of them are not living the values that their right wing fans think they're living. Some have been forced back into the closet, in order to salvage their careers.

We also had a friend that was in a very very popular Christian band -- one of the first ones that was marketed heavily. One of the guys left the band and went out on his own. He's still doing that type of rock music, but not as phony as most of it is. he told us that if you're in that circle, and you say even "shit" they freak out, and chastise you. He said it is the most narrow-minded, bigoted, oppressive business out there. Same with Country music. I'm sure quite a few of them are voting for Obama, in the privacy of the voting booth.

This a major reason why I do not like the genre. They are fake.
Southern culture is no different from the traditional British class system. Those on the top need to "go along to get along".
