Personally, I have been a little anxious about the election tomorrow.
I watch Dick Morris's predictions and I feel pretty good. But then I check out DemocratUnderground, and it looks like those guys are REALLY confident that Obama's going to win tomorrow. They are so confident, that in fact, it sort of hurt some of my own confidence that Romney's going to win tomorrow. It looks like they have their own gurus and oracles that they quote, and they sure feel good about their chances.
What do you guys think? Do you think these liberals are all 100% confidence or do you think a few might be a little anxious too?
If anyone has an personal stories about an anxious liberal they know, please share!

He told me the other day he kept a list of all the conspiracy theories she was spouting. I told him just for fun I wanted to see the list. Even though it is his mom, we get a kick talking about it because the stuff is so far out of reality.

(53,661 posts)I don't know, but there are some rabid female baggers. She's only a couple years older than me.
Our family was not at all right wing, not into all of this stuff. The older people in my family would have a stroke looking at these Goebbels. You see, they grew up in the Great Depression and got very aware of the Nazis, etc. and believed in all of the New Deal. They were union and corporate, enterpreunarial, teachers, mechanics, you name it, they did it, and all different faiths or none at all. They knew a demagogue when they saw one and were strong for civil rights, etc.
Now as to this person, she hasn't darkened the door of a church since she and her husband were married in the sixties and is not quite retirement age yet. Never talked about religion, neither did her spouse, a veteran. She supported women's choice, gay rights, and it was only after 2008 she started listening to Beck.
In the 1990's I listened to Rush to see what the heck was up. I used to watch CNN, MSNBC, CSPAN 1, CSPAN 2, PBS, FOX, Comedy, Central, etc to see what was up. I had a routine for a while, seeing several shows and Beck was one of them. He has become much worse with time, they all have. I also researched almost all the wingnut, CT stuff for a few years.
Until I couldn't go along with the alternate reality, dream/nightmare they were pushing anymore. They inspire a constant state of helplessness and fear that is only satisfied by finding an enemy to blame for all that's not right. I'll see youtube videos to get up to date, but really, I can't watch these guys or listen to them anymore.
I understand what they're aiming for, how they're doing it. But you cannot explain that to anyone who is in the matrix of these influences. She had some college, but never really achieved much in that area. Now she is obsessed with illegals, sharia law, communism or whatever fearful image is being pumped into her head daily.
We never cared about any of this in our entire lives and are not in any way effected. She and her spouse are often at home, living in a hot climate and not being in good shape, they stay inside all the time. When they're inside, they watch the television. In fact, I realized some years ago they were just plain addicted to television, organized their entire lives around it.
So maybe this has been a long time coming and I didn't see it. This is purely the result of media madness, in my opinion. I really wouldn't care, I mean, if they thorught that UFOs were hiding on the back side of the Sun or inside the Moon, who cares, really. But this is hateful to other people.
And she is on prescription drugs, but neither of them are on psychotrophic or sleep medications, AFAIK. All physical conditions. They are not healthy and this is making her BP go up.
But I was always the rebel in the family, the one who had adventures, who moved and did all kinds of things. So I saw more. Maybe this is why I didn't go the way she did. It's sad. But what's bad, and not sad, but scary, is that she votes.
And my post which goes firsthand into the craziness that she is, on a GOP voter stealing thread:
OTOH, my formerly aggravating, but now full nutso relative who moved to Glennbeckistan in 2010, will likely not be swayed. Her training comes straight from the mouth of the (Mormon) rabble rousing Beck, who convinced her that:
'Obama is going to foreign consulates,' importing Mexicans 'to vote Democratic' by bribing them with 'food stamps, social security and Medicare...'
To which I said, 'Well, they aren't doing that in my state up here, it's illegal. You should call Governor Perry down there about this.'
She was shocked, then said she was sure he wasn't doing that... 'And I've met some people in the Tea Party and they are really nice and they're being lied about in the news!' and...
'This is a Christian Nation! If people don't like it they shouldn't come here! Obama is 'turning the country communism!' (Yes, she used that term instead of the word 'communist.')
And 'Obama has ruined the economy,' and 'Aren't you afraid of what will happen with another four yeara of Obama?'
I told her I wasn't the least bit worried about it.
After some more raving as I tried to get off the telephone, she said as if working it out while she spoke, 'I have never used a gun before, but I will kill anyone who tries to implement Sharia Law!'
As far as this story, I'm sure Beck the Revelator has already put in the disclaimer. I can just hear it now: 'It's a lie!'
If you want to check out the crazy, I could give you the sites that carry the underlying world view, the filter they've been taught to view all news and events in. Or we can go with these lists, that brought out the carefully nurtured crazy that fueled the Tea Party in 2010. And has not stopped, by any means:

DU will be shutting itself down to only members on election night and beyond so that they can limit veiwing of the impending meltdown (Just like 2004.) If you havent done it yet, be sure to join or check in often to DUFU so that the few of us that fly under the DU radar can let you in on the slide of insanity.
Wish us luck. Some never come back from DU without some sort of infliction. It took weeks to stop the drooling out of the left side of my mouth when I heard the name of GW Bush from 2004 election. Im am now ready, once again, to sacrifice my self for more episodes of DUFU Election of DOOM 2012.
Stay tuned!

Hey Charles, you should grab all those threads over there of them claiming 0 is going to win and the like. And make one big DUFU with a Howd that work our for you? theme.
I saw a couple claiming an 0 landslide. heheh!

Except he was perfect last time...
What does Rasmussen predict today?
Those at DU are in a state of denial. They have forgotten the Walker recall. They have forgotten the 2010 mid-term. The mere fact that none of them think it will be remotely close tells you a little about how they think.
The same polls that are predicting an Obama victory predicted the Walker recall would fail . They nailed it to 1/10 of a percent:
And the same polls that predicted a Republican wave in 010 are predicting an Obama victory this year. Ironically the two pollsters who are overestimated the size of the wave by two hundred or so percent were, guess who, Rasmussen and Gallup:

(1,135 posts)I'm still worried about Republican elections shenanigans in Ohio, but the math is on our side this time. I think we have enough of a buffer to take Ohio with or without Republican election fraud. That's the only real point of nervousness for me. It looks like we'll get more than enough of the other swing states' electoral votes to make this a safe win.
The Freepers are counting too much on the idea that most of these state polls are horribly biased toward Democrats, but we should have seen that effects of that in the recent past elections if that were true.

(1,773 posts)No one would have believed in the last years of the nineteenth century that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man's and yet as mortal as his own; that as men busied themselves about their various concerns they were scrutinised and studied, perhaps almost as narrowly as a man with a microscope might scrutinise the transient creatures that swarm and multiply in a drop of water.
Yet, across the gulf of space, minds that are to our minds as ours are to those of the beasts that perish, intellects vast and cool and unsympathetic, regarded this earth with envious eyes, and slowly and surely drew their plans against us.

Libs place huge trust in AUTHORITY and put very little effort into trying to make rational sense out of what they see going around them.
Conservatives are just the opposite. We reject AUTHORITY and count on our brains to figure things out.
Libs accept the idea of global warming, rampant racism and all the Oboma spin machine stories and lies without question. Thats just how theyre wired.
