And there aren't that many of them, so it doesn't take too long to count the vote. Usually early morning they release the results

right away. There's only 12 or 13 votersthere, so I don't think they need time to count the votes!

I believe Harts Location, NH stopped the praticee a few years ago when the local hotel got sold.

released as soon as they are counted. If I remember correctly, there are less than 100 votes. I don't think they are known as a bell whether though. I think their vote is more about it being first in the country and it's become a tradition to be first in the US to vote on Election Day

It's a more Republican town than Hart's Landing. Obama was the first Dem to win it since LBJ's landslide '64 victory.

He won it 15-6.

their record isn't that accurate. A few well known mishaps:

Nixon v. Kennedy (1960) -- picked Nixon over Kennedy.

Clinton v. Dole (1996) -- the town picked Dole by 10 votes.

Clinton v. George H.W. Bush (1992) -- they picked Papa Bush 15 - 2 over Clinton.
