2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forum538's model shows Obama recovering after Oct 12. Did Joe Biden save the campaign?
If you look at the graph in the "Chance of Winning" section of FiveThirtyEight.com, you may notice that Obama's freefall after the first debate abruptly stopped and changed course on Oct 12th.
Is it any coincidence that the VP debate was on Oct 11th?
Was Joe Biden responsible for that?

(151 posts)it's all a bunch of stuff
then the moderator asking for clarification
Biden replies "Bunch of Stuff, Malarkey"
Wow.. i love how direct that line was.. it was the irish catholic way of backhand slapping Ryan with a velvet glove.
I loved it! that was the turning point.
BIDEN YOU SAVED US ALL. for the record, Biden was my FIRST choice for president before OBama won the primary.. so I get huge 'early credit' for seeing his saving graces so early..

(25,415 posts)Both he and Bill Clinton have been amazing for Obama. And then Obama himself has a great second debate. After that, Mittens lost his momentum.
Plus Joe coined my most favorite phrase of the moment "a bunch of stuff".

(82,383 posts)At least it gave his supporters a boost, and then Obama closed it with two good debates.

(26 posts)and was proud of the ass kicking he doled out, I think people overestimate the impact of the VP debate. I don't see too many undecideds being swayed by that debate. I think what turned things around was a combination of Obama's return to form in the next two debates and Romney's likeability dropping as he got more exposure. Basically, Romney had the greatest night of his political career during the first debate, but the success was short lived because it also put his personality and ever changing positions under the microscope.

(4,150 posts)But in the end, the POTUS, Barrack Obama, brought home the bacon. As long as the GOTV efforts go as expected, Robme is toast! One final p-u-s-h, and he can take his loser-ass back to his mcmansion with its car elevator, and he can shove it all where the sun doesn't shine!
