Will the Republican party....

.... ever at least make me use an ounce of critical thinking before I vote for the Democrat in the race?

I make no bones that I am a Democrat, very liberal on some issues. But for the love of all that is holy, can we bring back the Republican party that at least provided me some reason to do some research and think before I cast my ballot?

I hope we can see that party once again, but I fear that it only gets worse from here. And that is hard to believe.

Yes. For mostly all issues there is no need for research. We have lived them. GOP does lie. The Wielding Truth Nov 2012 #1
Only way you're ever going to have to do research is if we switch a system that favors 3rd parties ShadowLiberal Nov 2012 #2

I feel somewhat the same way as you. There's a few areas I don't agree democrats/democratic politicians on, but they're all areas that both parties are exactly the same on despite it being a 2 party system (such as more draconian IP enforcement such as SOPA, which would have easily passed in a bi-partisan vote had the Internet not started a huge campaign against it).

I wish we switched to a parliamentary system like practically every other 1st world country uses today. There's a reason why even US Supreme Court justices have advised developing nations switching over to a democracy (such as Iraq) to not base their government on the US Constitution.
